  • BOYCOTT is a Strategic Mistake.

BOYCOTT is a strategic mistake on part of those Immigrant Rights Activists who initiated it.

    1. Unlike previous marches it will appear too radical and may trigger widely negative responce - turn public opinion against the cause of participants.

    2. It will hurt very businessess that feed the participants.

    3. It will rather give an ammunition to anti-immigrant activists who will argue about INSIGNIFICANCE of immigrant labor force - Referring to a "Day without undocumented immigrants".

I wonder where did this idea of "BOYCOTT" come from and why organizers think it's such a good idea to advance their cause in this way ???

Because they don't get it; and this protest just proves that they do not want to and can not assimilate into American society; and that is why it will backfire big time like it did last month; pretty stupid not to learn a lesson from a month ago

Does anyone know where this "BOYCOTT"-ing idea originated from?

It's apparently being pushed by socialist/communist organizations who are co-opting the "illegal alien movement" for their own ends, which is why some "immigrant" groups are reluctant to participate.

Originally they thought a boycott would demonstrate that if illegals were deported that it would strangle the American economy.

And here we go with the ridiculous "Communist" plot theory. Now all we need it the Da Vinci Code underground to claim resposibility - along with the Communists/Socialists and Che (who has come back to life just for this moment) - and we can make a movie.

Everyone knows - the socialists and communists do not get along and would NEVER co-conspire to do anything. Two different factions with different philosphies.

Aliba: why would communist/socialist want immigration reform? I would think immigration would be bad for socilism. I'm not trying to argue, I'm just curious. It seems counter intuitive.

Whoever came up with this "BOYCOTT" thing must have been smoking something, but where are the heads of organizers who helped to carry it out?

                    BOYCOTT is a strategic mistake

Absolutly agree! If you want something you have to ask nicely. Reviving 1 of May "International solidarity" day for workers? How unclever! Bad memories of communist era, associated with communism. Well, they should better stick to manual labor,,,

Boycott does not equal International Solidarity day.

A boycott is on a much smaller scale and is the refusal to have dealings with a store, person, or an organization. Usually it is an expression of disapproval or a forcing of acceptance of certain conditions.

These people are actually protesting the possibility of certain immigration laws being passed which they feel are determental to their position.

"well they should better stick to manual labor" (quote)
So where did you learn to write?

It may be a strategic mistake - time will tell but I don't think it is a communist or socialist plot. (Or a Jewish Conspiracy either. The 'Commie" thing kinda went down with the wall and the McCarthy era is dead.

Now it is the Osama/Babylon plot.

Interesting that when a group works toward trying to change laws/society - it becomes "those Commies". Well, look at what democracy did to those "Commies".

As for the Socialists (countries) - they seem to be fighting hand and hand with the US in Iraq.

Everyone is entitled to his/her opinion.

Mine is that it was a mistake.
And I still wonder where did the idea originate from.
