  • Change of status from B-2 to F-1???

Hi everybody! I have a question regarding the change of status while in the U.S. What I'd like to know is if it's possible to change the status from B-2(visitor/tourist) to F-1, WITHOUT leaving the country? I've been in the U.S. twice so far. No overstay!!! Some additional information about me: I'm 32, citizen of Serbia & Montenegro (former Yugoslavia), employed. Thank you all and feel free to contact me on my email address(libra1972@gmail.com) or through this discussion board.

In theory it is possible. However, lately with the SEVIS system and after Sept 11, most of those change of status are denied. The only approvals I have heard are from those who told the Visa office(in their country) that they are intending to find a school in the US and they put a note that visa holder intends to change to F1.

I spoke to several schools for a friend of mine and they confirmed that situation. They told me that so far most of those application have been denied.

Therefore, it is easier to do consular processing in those cases.

      Or else find other options....
      Hope it helps

          HI Libra,
You need to seek another solution, if you want to live and work hire legaly, because it's alomost imposible specially after 9/11 to change the status.
Where you live now?I'm aksing you because I'm also from SCG.
What ever you deside,I wish you good luck(srecno).
