I am a very busy advocate of immigration reform and would encourage you and any of your friends who would like to make a difference in the legislation of immigration bills moving through Congress to join me at:

    www.numbersusa.com

This site does not focus on any one ethnicity but rather the overall need for "Lower Levels of Immigration".

From this site and the "action buffet", which is your own personal bulletin board, you type in your zip code, the site pulls up your (3) Congressional representatives and "free" of charge you can direct pre-written faxes to each representative with a click or design your own fax with your own personal concerns about the highlighted legislation.

NumbersUSA has such a strong following that its members have stopped, postponed and defeated numerous pieces of legislation moving through the bureaucracy that would have devastated American jobs, wage levels and entitlement programs.

If you feel like I do about the surge of legal and illegal immigrants crossing our borders please help the cause and join NumbersUSA.com

And yet American economy is in the dumps. And it is sinking further. Isn't it time for you guys to step out of denial and face the truth ? If there is any semblance of economy left, it is because immigrants are working hard and keeping America competitive.

Checkout California's Bayarea with its immigrant Indian and Chinese population. Crime is the lowest and schools are the most highly prized.

Time for you to get some education, dude.

It's amazing how much "numbers" can lie. There's people who use "numbers" and manipulated statistics to lie their way through just about anything, and they call themselves objective and "FAIR"... 'cause after all, it's all based on "numbers", now ain't that right? lmao

                  Immigration Reduces Crime Rates

                  By LiveScience Staff

Contrary to popular stereotypes, areas undergoing immigration are associated with lower violence, not spiraling crime, according to a new study.

Harvard University sociologist Robert Sampson examined crime and immigration in Chicago and around the United States to find the truth behind the popular perception that increasing immigration leads to crime.

Sampson's study results, detailed in the winter issue of the American Sociological Association's Contexts magazine, summarizes patterns from seven years' worth of violent acts in Chicago committed by whites, blacks and Hispanics from 180 neighborhoods of varying levels of integration. He also analyzed recent data from police records and the U.S. Census for all communities in Chicago.

Based on assumptions that immigrants are more likely to commit crimes and settle in poor, disorganized communities, prevailing wisdom holds that the concentration of immigrants and an influx of foreigners drive up crime rates.

However, Sampson shows that concentrated immigration predicts lower rates of violence across communities in Chicago, with the relationship strongest in poor neighborhoods.

Not only does immigration appear to be "protective" against violence in poverty areas, violence was significantly lower among Mexican-Americans compared to blacks and whites. Sampson refers to this as the "Latino Paradox," whereby Hispanic Americans do better on a range of social indicators "” including propensity to violence "” than one would expect, given their socioeconomic disadvantages.

Sampson's analysis also revealed that first-generation immigrants were 45 percent less likely to commit violence than third-generation Americans. Controlling for immigrant generation even narrowed the violence gap between whites and blacks in Chicago by 14 percent.

"The pattern of immigrant generational status and lower crime rates is not restricted to Latinos; it extends to help explain white–black differences as well," Sampson said. "We're so used to thinking about immigrant assimilation that we've failed to fully appreciate how immigrants themselves shape their host society."

Immigration is therefore not just a Hispanic issue; although little noticed, increasing foreign-born diversity among blacks (e.g., from the West Indies and Africa) is associated with lower crime even within segregated black communities.

Sampson's arguments are supported at the national level as well. Significant immigration growth "” including by illegal aliens "” occurred in the mid-1990s, peaking at the end of the decade. During this time, the national homicide rate plunged. Crime dropped even in immigration hot spots, such as Los Angeles (where it dropped 45 percent overall), San Jose, Dallas and Phoenix.

Reasons commonly cited for the apparent paradox of first generation immigrants, especially Mexicans, are motivation to work, ambition and a desire not to be deported, characteristics that predispose them to low crime. Sampson also argues that contemporary immigrants tend to come from a multitude of cultures around the world where violence isn't rewarded as a strategy for establishing reputation or preserving honor, as in American "street culture."

"In today's society," Sampson said, "immigration and the increasing cultural diversity that accompanies it generate the sort of conflicts of culture that lead not to increased crime but nearly the opposite." </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

The Department of Justice has not kept any detailed statistics on immigration and the various crime data. What the DOJ does, by statue, keep statistics on race and ethnicity.

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">Here are the facts, easily available from the FBI, the Justice Department's Bureau of Justice Statistics, the General Accounting Office, the Congressional Budget Office, or any other reputable source:

Among inmates in federal prisons, it's true that a highly disproportionate number of prisoners have been classified as "non-citizens" or "criminal aliens." Many of these immigrants turn up in federal prison because of problems with their immigration status (surprise!) or because they're involved with the interstate or international drug trade.

But federal prisoners represent only a small percentage – just 8%--of our total prison population. The bulk of inmates have been incarcerated in state prisons (including nearly all convicts accused of murder)and there, non-citizens are, if anything, under-represented: amounting to less than 5% of the prisoner population.

Taking the total state-federal prison population (2,193,798) and the total number of non-citizens in both systems (122,708), the actual percentage of "criminal aliens" in our prisons amounts to 5.5% --- not even remotely close to the 29% or "one third" claimed by clownish demagogues. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

And what some people do is use the number of aliens in ICE deportation centers as part of the "crime statistics." That is highly dubious since deportation is not a criminal offense, but a civil administration issue.

Finally, local jails tend to hold immigrants who are detained until ICE or USCIS makes a determination. Some that are detained for the most minor offenses such as moving traffic violations. some for other issues. And no, there is no accurate reliable data to detemine which is which, which leaves us to the anti-immigration folks who tend to sensationalize the numbers for out of fear and loathing.

whatever other numbers people wish to quote, the bottom line is that the 12-20M illegal alien enema bag cleaners have NO RIGHT to even be in the United States of America...and thus NO right to work and steal jobs or benefits from American citizens. Our economy won't collapse if every dirtbag illegal was deported; we would see wages rise in many employment sectors due to a change in demand and supply...our schools would become far less crowded, our highways instantly safer...the myth that America would be unable to survive economically if the illegals were booted out is just pure nonsense...we were doing just fine before they all showed up and we'll do just fine when they are gone....so send faxes/letters/emails to your representatives and encourage them to rid the USA of these parasites....

Then in the very next sentence your quoting numbers again. Which is it? Do they or don't they? BTW, many who end up in ICE detention started out in a local jail for something else. Most are not from a federal prison but from local jails. That is where the biggest impact is felt, not in the fed pen.

That is according to local law enforcement who started keeping tabs. Are they anti-immigrant sensationalist folks? </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
                        Davdah,
I said no detailed information, not inaccurate information. There is a diffrence. The only thing the DHS and DOJ coorelate is the number of non-citizens in the United States prison system, but no detailed information whether non-citizens committing speicfic crimes such as murder, rape, etc. And this is coming from a conservative blog. For you, has to account for something.

What has happened is certain groups have made assumptions. For instance, there was an e-mail about 70% of the L.A. County Most wanted were illegal aliens. Snoops.com stated this was false and the person who wrote the e-maol was assuming anyone who was Hispanic was an illegal. This is what the blog from Townhall was trying to emphasize.

                              Davdah,
Not being detailed is not the same thing as accurate. The DOJ does not keep the statistics on immigrants (that is legal and illegal) specific to each crime. The only statistic DOJ does keeps is the number of non-citizens in the jail system related to total prison population. This does not represent an inaccurate number, but a aggregate number without regard to specific crime types. If you state that the aggregate total is misleading, then so will be the whole prison population statistic. That is an absurd hypothesis.
