  • Looking for an American Immigrant to interview.

Hello, I am currently writing an essay about what immigrants face in the transition from their native culture to the United States. I am in need of someone to interview, and as I live in a small college town, I don't really know where to begin to find an interviewee. All answers I receive will remain confidential to me, the two other members of my group, and my University professor. Please either email me at jason_mcdaniel310@yahoo.com, or send me a private message here if you are interested.

    The questions are as followed:

    Interviewee's name:

    Interviewee's original country and language:

    1. What age did you leave?

    2. What has been the hardest adaptation?

    3. What misconceptions about America did you have before you came here?

    4. Did you have any fears or reservations about coming to America?

    5. Have you faced any discrimination here?

    6. How has immigrating affected your religious activity?

    7. What is your favorite aspect of American culture that differs from your home culture?

    8. Is America how you expected it to be?

    9. What would you change about America?

    10. What are some assumptions people make about you based on your cultural background?

    11. What aspect of your home culture do you miss most?

    12. Why did you choose to immigrate to America over another country?

    13. Have your children retained the culture of your home?

    14. Do you ever regret immigrating to America?

    15. How has immigrating affected your relationship with your family

    16. What is your "American Dream"?

    17. (Follow up from #16) Do you believe that this dream is attainable?

    18. Has your life improved since immigrating?

    19. What city do you live in, and why did you choose this specific area?

    20. How hard was it to leave your home culture, family, and friends?

Thank you for your time, hopefully I can get some responses in.

They aren't American immigrants. They are Fill In The Blank Immigrants.

American immigrants leave America and go somewhere else.

An American leaving the US to go somewhere else is an emigrant, not an immigrant.
