  • married a german divorcee with no papers..need help figuring out proper paperwork

    i married a german man that came to the u.s. in 2001 on a visitor visa..while here, he married, but he nor his wife filled out paperwork to make him legal...he divorced her in july 2005, and he and i married in july 2005...what process do i need to go through to make him legal, and what will the cost be? all help greatly appreciated, because we want and need him to be legal

      Are you a US citizen? You may wish to consult with an immigration attorney. The forms are fairly self-explanatory (I130/I485) but with a five year overstay, he should not leave the country until he has successfully adjusted status.

        yes i am a u.s. citizen..and can i fill out the forms myself, or will it cost a fortune to get it done by an attorney? any help is appreciated as i am clueless, but know that i love him and don't want to take any chances on losing him. thank you
