  • n-400 - waiting period

My friend recently sent his application to the ins for citizenship - The reply came back as the time frame is 738 days ???
Is this the standard wait time now? Anyone else got such a long wait time?

My husband applied on April 7,2006 in Vermont Service center since we live in NY. His application took exactly 4 months he got his biometrics appointment on May 12, his interview August 02, and his oath ceremony on August 9. He did receive that NOA1 saying that the processing time was around 999days but it didn't take that long...............Good luck to your friend........

The amount of time it takes to process your case depends on your Service Center and District Office. It also depends on the case load at that time.

The number of days stated on your receipt is a standard boilerpalte response. It may or may not take that long to process. The majority of the cases are process within six months of receipt, so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

          Relax and wait.
