DREAM Act will not go through. To all of you that want to be in favor of it think about this.....every time Congress passes another category for people to get green cards you extend the green card processing time 1 year OR MORE! Think about it. CIS can't keep up with what it has now and Congress isn't creating additional positions to deal with the mess they are making.

I understand that you are just in high school.. but dear this is a FORUM, and you are going to get good and bad comments, positive and negative. It is like life... you take the good with the bad and sort things out. In other words.. Reality check. Everything is not rosey and peachy in life nor is it on any Forum.

So if you are going to stick around here and survive.. it would be best if you traded in the merry-go-round for a set of boxing gloves.

        Welcome to grown up land.

"every time Congress passes another category for people to get green cards you extend the green card processing time 1 year OR MORE!"

Why not to triple processing fees and hire new case workers?

Why not to raise 10 times penalty for illegal aliens and let them apply for any existing visa?
You broke the law you have to pay(.)

In this country everything should be possible for money but it is not - I mean adjusting status from illegal to legal.

                Maria,

Talk to congress....they are the ones who have to authorize the extra personnel, advocate the higher fees, etc.

Since the law was broken and generally when that happens, not only is a fine paid but generally jail time can be given. Would you also be not be opposed to a illegal person say doing 6 or 7 years jail time in addition to a fine and then apply for existing visa?

What do u think about that. fair or what

                  U say:

Money can't buy class or love and should not be able to buy status either. Why bother to make laws then.

                  Martinez:

What do you think would be fair for you since it was your parents fault for bringing you here.Do you think exceptions should be made, and why. This is your essay peice for the week.

For many minor violations no jail is given: not paying taxes, traffic violations. We have had so many times tax amnesties.

Do you know approximately when the Congress will be working on Bush or similar proposal - before or after presidential elections?

Hmmm.. Do you think breaking and entering is a minor offense... ? Do you think Tax evasion is a minor offense... ? Go visit the inmates in Prison who have gotten significant time for these offenses. When you deal with crime and government, the sentences are not light. did you know that during the Vietnam War when US citizens wouldnt fight for the war they mostly had to go to Toronto, Canada. They were not allowed back on us soil for fear of imprisonment until an amnesty was granted. And that was for many years.

Sorry for argument sake .. u cannot put traffic tickets in the mix. Wouldnt be proper analogy.

                      In regards to Proposals:
No I do not know when .. Can only surmise. What do u think... its a political game and will depend on which way the wind is blowing in sentiment. u know...Promises Promises.. Dangle Dangle.

Overstaying is not a criminal charge because otherwise police would deal with it not BCIS.
Most people who overstayed are not taken into custody and there are not jailed just for overstaying.
Has it ever happened in the past that US president proposed something for illegals and it was only his political game and it was never brought to the Congress?

We are talking 2 different subjects I see. the original topic was about illegal entry without inspection and not people overstaying ... However they are both illegal as you know. overstay is forgiven thru marriage to USC. the other is not that simple hence making it fall into the handling procedure that occurs when a marriage takes place to an illegal entry.

I know you can see the differece here.. One was invited into the house and wouldnt leave. the other was not invited and decided to break and enter. they are both illegal and end up with the same fate with a bar. However because the invited guest makes apologies by marrying a USC, he/she is forgiven.

                          Now you said:
"Most people who overstayed are not taken into custody and there are not jailed just for overstaying"

Obviously you dont know anyone who has been picked up or visited the holding/detention centers. Jail for all intensive purposes! There are many. many. and I sincerly hope that you never become one of these .. But if you are illegal, then there is always a chance that it could happen to you. Please dont be cavalier about it. I have seen it happen to too many people.

It should make a diffirence between the two categories.

If the "invited" guest is making apologies by marrying a USC, than what is the "uninvited" guest doing by marrying a USC? Or is that a crime, too?
                              Have a nice day
