Can anyone help me better understand? My friend is married to a guy that is in the military for about a year now. Their marriage is real. They do love each other very much. By being married to someone in the military, does it make it more difficult to go through the process of making it legal for her to be in the country as to if she were married to a civilian? Is it still possible?

Possible, and not more difficult. There are some advantages (USCIS is more willing to accomodate requests if deployment is imminent, citizenship..).

It may be more complicated if person in military has some kind of security clearance...but that has nothing to do with immigration.

What does an immigration issue have to do with "a real marriage?"
