  • Visitor's/Tourist Visa

    Hello
I am a USC and my girlfriend lives in the Dominican Republic and I would like her to visit me in NYC.

How hard is it for Dominican citizens to acquire a visitor's/tourist visa?

Does she need anything in particular to increase her chances of obtaining one?

If we decide to get married in the future, will a visitor's visa affect the acquisition of a K-1 or K-3 visa?

    Please advise
    Thanks.

No, not at all as long as she respected the terms of that visitor's visa (not working, not staying longer than allowed...)

For the rest, it depends on personal situation (job, other ties to home country) and the consulate (how strict they are..). so - can't help much there.

since the odds of a single young woman from a developing country visiting her American boyfriend and returning to her country is about the same as the sun turning to ice tomorrow, her chances are slim indeed.
The consuls know this all too well.

          More questions.

          1. What are the chances she would be granted a K-1 visa?

          2. What is required for a K-1 visa?

          Please advise. Thanks.
