Work authorization + (emergency) Travel Document

Hello Everybody,

I have the first Green Card interview, based on marriage on Feb/06/07. I applied for the work authorization on 28/10/07 and did not receive the working permit yet.

Recently, I got a job offer (job start: 02/03/07) and the employer wants to send me to a training seminar outside the USA on 03/03/07.

My question:

1. I do not have my work authorization yet.
2. I need a (emergency)travel document

What are the best follow ups in my situation?
What should I do now?

Are you suppose to start working on March 2 or February 3? meaning before or after the interview? (you wrote the dates both ways, so I can't figure out).

90 days after you file for work authorization you can apply for at temp EAD card at the local INS office. WHile there you can also apply for emergency travel authorizaiton. Calll you local office to see if you need to schedule an appointment.

I heart that one can apply for his EAD already 75 days after he/she filed the form I-795. Is it correct?

How fast can I get Emergency travel document?

Well, you can always try (I heard only about 90 day rule). Some local offices will issue emergency Advance Parole (have you applied for one with the AOS package?), some will not.

However, if you are approved at the interview, both documents (EAD and AP) may be taken away from you since, as a Permanent Resident, you no longer need or should use them. If that happens, make sure you get your passport stamped with I-515 stamp proving your new status. That should suffice as the proof of your status for work and travel purposes until you get plastic GC. Good luck.
