  • Travel while wating on oath ceremony

Can someone travel while they wait on Oath Ceremony? What documents do I need to travel? I only have the receipt letter from Nat. Interview, and a I-751 stamp, with a note stating waiting on oath ceremony. Iasked for an I-551 but the officer said it was not necessary. Is this true? Thanks.

sblist: My understanding is that you can not travel out side the US while your application is pending before the USCIS for the Oath Cerermony.
The first step is to get the I-551, and then you file for your Citizenship.
      What is your staus now?
Where did you file your papers?
Let see what others have to say, wish you best of luck.

I had everything approved during the same appointment. My I-751 was approved to I-551. But the officer did not stamp it in my passport. She instead wrote that I'm waiting on Oath Ceremony. And then she approved the N-400 after. I asked her if I needed a new stamp and she replied no because I will have the oath soon. Well, I found out that I'm not scheduled for oath soon. We had purchase tickets in advance and wanted to know if I would encouter any problems entering the US.

          Hi sblist...

I know someone who rescheduled oath appointment coz she had to go out of country.... Why don't u make an infopass appointment to get I 551 stamp in ur passport at ur regional USCIS office... its worth a try... they will put a stamp on ur passport and u r good to travel out of united states... good luck...Pasha
