  • Initial Interview regarding I-485

    Hi,
I just received I-797C (NOA) yesterday regarding an Initial Interview for I-485 ( Unmarried Child of US citizen over 21). Here is my background and timeline .

My brothers (3 of them) received their GC through consular proccessing last year and they came here within few days of their approval.

Here is my timeline so far

    12/18/00 I-130 filed
02/23/05 Filed I-485,I-765 under 245(i) in Houston, TX
03/03/05 Rcv'd/Priority Date (sent to MSC)
    03/25/05 INS sent NOAs for I-485, I-765
04/22/05 Fingerprints & Biometrics in Houston, TX
    05/03/05 EAD apprvd
    05/05/05 Rcvd EAD in mail
05/10/05 I-797C notice date to appear for an initial interview on June 21st, 2005 for AOS
    05/14/05 Rcvd I-797C in mail
06/21/05 Scheduled for an Intitial Interview

Question is what is an " Initial Interview"?
Should I expect more than one interview?
It seems so soon for BCIS to call me for an interview?
    Is it normal?

    Any input would be appreciated...

This is what an attorney Gene Meltser said today on ILW's chat session regarding Initial Interview & why I am even called for an interview so soon!

      "ilwspeaker
no, there will be onw, but the invitation to an interview form they use is ofr ALL TYPES of interview

      ilwspeaker
they use the same language on all of them

      ilwspeaker
      they are very quick now

      ilwspeaker
      on the family cases

      ilwspeaker
3-8 month on average, except for NY and NJ "

I thought I should share this info. as some of u might be on the same boat...
