  • Travel out of US

I just got my green card, I want some way to live out of US but without disturbing my status of LPR, reentry permit is valid only for two years, and it takes 2~4 months to get it.
Please advise me some solution. If any immigration lawyer can help me, I will be pleased to get their help.

    Regards

      1. For how long you intend to live abroad?

There is no way to want to stay out the US and still maintain green card. You must ALWAYS have the intent to live in the U.S. permanently. You should not have become an LPR if that was not your intent.

Even with re-entery permit, when you come back the Officer at Customs can question whether or not you have maintained your residence here. Even with a re-entry permit, he can put you in exclusion proceedings to have your green card revoked.

Now, the easiest way to stay outside the country without having any problems is to become a US Citizen first and then do whatever you want.

If you want to take the risk of losing your green card by not living in the U.S., then you should spend the money and go see a competent immigration lawyer.

Why did you get a green card if you don't want to live here? Scamming SSI disability payments?
