  • Out of Status J-1

I have a friend who had J-1 status 4 times and came to the US with work & travel program. Right now he is in the US, but he has been out of status for 7 months. Is there any way he can adjust his status? How can he get a green card??

Remind us (American citizens) why the eff we should help some dirtbag visa cheat? If your 'friend' is forced to leave our country, will our economy collapse? Will the war in Afghanistan continue? Will global warming increase? Your dirtbag visa cheating 'friend' lied to our border officials and our embassy officials, so eff him. He does NOT deserve a green card...if you believe otherwise, ask the 10,000,000 unemployed American citizens why your 'friend' should be allowed to continue working (and now he is working illegally, in case you haven't figured it out) instead of one of them? Or don't you have any patriotism towards your fellow American citizens? If not, then perhaps you should leave America, and take your soap-dropping buddy with you.

First, please ignore S12. He has a thing for illegals LOL

Short of marriage to a USC, he's SoL on any future AoS. Even if he did marry, I guarantee you the USCIS will look very closely at him. Any minor past immigration violations or criminal activity and he can forget it. That said, in general any unauthorized work or overstay if married to a USC is forgiven.

For further infomation on illegal overstay and marriage to a USC look here.

Yes, go into your nearest USCIS office to apply in person for an extension.
