      The general requirements for administrative naturalization include:

      a period of continuous residence and physical presence in the United States;
      residence in a particular USCIS District prior to filing;
      an ability to read, write, and speak English;
      a knowledge and understanding of U.S. history and government;
      good moral character;
      attachment to the principles of the U.S. Constitution; and,
      favorable disposition toward the United States.

        It can take years and years and years. First of all, you have to get a green card - and depending on your application status that can take years before your Visa is issued.

        It is different if you apply as a Permanent Resident or if you apply as a Citizen.

        If your parent is a citizen and you are under 18, you can get citizenship right away.

        It is all long and cumbersome and expensive.
