  • Immigration Law Question: I-130

I applied for Daughter who is 27 years old. Immigration approved it and send 797 to NVC. The wait is 4-5 years till a visa number gets issued. Will an immigration lawyer accelerate the process or will I be wasting my money?

        HI,

Unfortunately, I wish I could tell you that hiring a lawyer would speed the process, it may in some cases but in your case the wait time for available visas is out of anyone's control. Keep checking the visa bulletin, you will see from time to time (very seldom times) you will jump a bit ahead and then may go back to your original spot. It is all based on number of visas available, case flow, and processing times. Good luck

an immigration lawyer does not control any visa process....though they will try to convince you they do....all they will do is reduce your bank account by hundreds or thousands of dollars in exchange for coloring in a few dots on a form and mailing forms to the visa center. If you have an honest case, and a ball point pen, you can do the forms yourself.
