  • Does my husband have to return to Mexico for a meeting?

I just had a queston and was wondering if anyone can help. I'm lost and feel like I'm drowning in this whole situation with my husbands immigration status. Well we got a lawyer in Austin TX about 2 years ago. He explained that this process would take a year. But he would had to go back to Mexico for his meeting at Cuada Juarez and stay there for about 6 months. But the longer we wait it just seems too not make any sence at all. Now is this right for my husband to go back to Mexico and do his fisical and everything else over there when there are so many that don't have to leave the United States?

if your husband entered the US without inspection (sneaked over the border), there is no way for him to obtain a legal status in the US. He has to return to Mexico.

      Is that the case?

Yes that is the case. But will he be able to come back?
I've know others people that are also fixing their papers and they don't have to go back even though they came the same way he did
But if he has to go back and if that doen't sound a bit fishy to anyone else maybe that's what he has to do. Thank you.

You will "hear" all kinds of stories, but yes, he will have to go back. You will have to file the I-601. Trust me, if there was a loophole to going back, I would have already found it :-). There are a lot of people in your situation, including myself. You might try posting your questions on http://www.immigrate2us.net
          Have a nice day

Yeah, post your question on "immigrate2us"...and get the same answer that you got here.

I guess that there really are consequences for disregarding America's sovereignty and rule-of-law by sneaking over the border.
