  • To all Indian Americans and USC living in US questions about Airlines/Hotels in India

    Hello Friends,
First of all let me apologize for not asking a immigration related question and I am really sorry about that. Well just have a quick question and hope you guys can help me out. Well me and my wife will be travelling to Mumbai, India soon and I have been trying to book airline and Hotel in India but I have run into a problems. Looks like I cannot book the above with a credit card issued by US banks since all the prices are shown in Rupees and we here use USD. I believe the American express we use in America is different then the American Express once issued by a Indian banks in India. I booked 2 tickets with SPICEJET airlines of India (from Mumbai to Bangalore and my AMX card was denied by the website but here is the funny part I called my AMX and they say the charge went through and it is up to SPICEJET to decide to accept or not.) Now when I called SPICEJET they have no idea or record of this transaction (I have no idea what is going on) So my questions is can you guys please guide me which airlines/hotels or even reliable websites accept US American Express credit cards? Thank you so much for your Opinion/Suggestions guys I really appreciate it. Thanks .

    Devang.

Ps: As far as a the pending charge on my AMX card here in the US is concerned AMX has assured me that IF SPICEJET does not accept the transaction say in a week it will just drop of my credit card. Almost all Indian airlines on their web sites say they accept International credit cards even AMX So why are they denying the CC Charges am I missing something here. I am positive that Indians and Americans living in US do book airlines and hotels from here and I am sure they don't use credit cards issued from Indian Banks. Ironically last year when I was in New Delhi I used the same AMX card in India to pay my Hotel Bill and there were no issues. I just don't understand this. Please HELP got to book tickets and hotel fast.
