          You just answered your own question. Later on they ask date you were to leave or are going to leave.

            My visa expired. USC husband is petitioning me.Question says: Current INS Status
            Do I say overstay? expired? out-of-status?

                  No. You should write "B-2 Visit Visa Overstayed" and this will clear everything because you will have to mention when you arrived, I-94 number etc. also.

                    I put out-of-status but I will follow your advice and change it. I was smart enough to download many copies of the forms.
