  • Processing Times for I-130

In 2007 I submitted I-130s for my children. The applications are at the California Service Center. In the past year the processing date moved by a total of 1 day!! Is that accurate, or is there something wrong with the posted Processing Times? At this rate it will take about 700 years to reach my application date.

Are you US citizen or permanent resident? How old are your children?
It happens that processing slows down for periods of time (maybe the priority was to get all the petitions for naturalizations done before the election), but then it picks up the speed again. No, it will not take 700 years

        Thanks for the reply.

        I'm a permanent resident, children are >21.

I understand that processing slows down during certain periods, but 1 day in an entire year?

I thought you were petitioning for someone in the category where beneficiary has to wait for a visa number to become available. Since that's the case, the approval date of I-130 does not matter so much as long as it is before the priority date becomes current. So, yes, USCIS do waits with those approvals when there is a long line ahead anyway.
Just be patient. I am confident it will be approved in due time. Think this way: even if I-130 is approved tomorrow nothing can be done for a next few years (until priority date is current). Approved petition would just sit on different desk, in NVC....
