Medicaid for Greencard Pending

Hi,

I applied for Low Cost Insurance called Health Plus here in NYC even though I'm still waiting for my AOS interview.

To my surprise, I received MEDICAID card. My question is, having been approved and given a MEDICAID, does it affect my application for Greencard? Am I subjected for being on Means-Tested Benefits? If so, what should I do?

Claire, I am not familiar with this program, but obviously it is some sort of welfare program. You will have to be careful of these type of services and should ask your Usc spouse or someone before applying for many things. Is your USC spouse your sponser?

Have you used the card to receive benefit by it yet?

If not, you should probably rescind your application for it and return it siting it was a mistake and you did not know it to be medicaid program.

Being on a means tested type program is "not cool" going into interview for AOS. You may want to explain to Imm Officer who is interviwing what happen and that u were not aware of situation and resolved it. A simple explanation should put it to rest.

If you have used the card already, then your sponser could be on the hook for repaying the benefit received.
