  • Federal job with I-168 awaiting GC interview

I recently applied for AOS under a family petition.
I was also thinking of attending college.
I know if I joined the National Guard they would accept me since I have a working permit though I dont know if I applied for the tuition assistance program it would affect my legal status.

Please any one with any knowledge on this issue or a similar one, share it.

Any lawyers with military and immigrations knowledge please post your contacts.

    Thank you all.

        To Garcia:
If you will apply for Tuition Assistance, it will not have any adverse affect on your AOS. Tuition Assistance will either be a Grant or Loan, and is not considered Public Assistance or Welfare.
        Good luck.

          Thank you UMesh Passi,

I really needed to hear that.
BUt I am wondering is Financial Assistance from the Nathional Guard a Grant. I know I have to be working for the NG to receive it so I choose to see it as Tuiton reimbursement/assistance.

Anyone with some insight on this please say some thing.

          Umesh thanks again.
