  • help with advice on police certificate?

Hello, this board is really great about the amount of good, useful advise it has to offer and I thank you.

Questions: If a lady lives in Ukraine, in Kiev, but once lived for four years in Volgograd, I understand she must go to Volgograd herself to apply for and get this police certificate, is this correct?

Must she go in person or can someone else, a relative from Volgograd get this for her?

If she must go herself what paperwork and documention must she bring with her? Does the police station have the correct forms or does she bring something with her and if so, what?

Should she call ahead and advise of her visit or just show up? How long does it take to get the certificate once she shows up?

    What is the cost?

    Thanks for any help.

I would suggest that you email the embassy in Kiev yourselves for details on how to obtain the certificate, or have your spouses call them.

They would be able to give you definitive information, as it varies from country to country.

LOL. You would think so, wouldn't you?

In my case, the Consulate supplied me with a form that I had to fill out and sign, which was then returned to them and they forwarded it on to the police. I can't say it would be the same way in the Ukraine though, and I certainly can't say that it would've been the same if I'd had to get a police certificate from another country.

Again, the best way to get the answer is to go straight to the source and the Consulate should provide better answers than the USCIS or NVC customer care numbers.

I did give the answer in the other thread regarding the police certificate:

Apparently in her Packet 3 that she will receive, in there will be a form OF-167. That is the information about obtaining a Police Certificate that she needs.

He maybe able to download that form in advance from the Embassy website or online somewhere.

The form for me was indeed in Packet 3.

They wouldn't accept it until my file was at the Consulate. I had downloaded it early and sent them off as soon as we'd heard we'd cleared NVC, but it returned, so that's something to be aware of.

The OP should still check regarding getting the certificate from another country though as most Consulates only keep forms regarding the country they're situated in.

in the packet download, available on the embassy website, document OF-167 is the document explaining what she must do to show she will not become a public charge. Nothing about a police document there. I have found no information about it but am confident they will be looking for one. This packet down load is supposed to be all the documents she will receive from Kiev

Not sure if this is current info or not, but she could check it out.

How to get Police Certificate in Kiev, Ukraine
You can either go to the central police station on Mikhailovska Sqare
Mon-Thurs before 11 am, and pay 20 Hrv. You must bring your Ukrainian
                          passport. It takes 10 days.

OR, you can go to the private tourist company "New Logic" at 3
Mikhailovska Vul. just off of Maidan Nezhalesnosti Square. It costs
about 50 Hrv. and will be done in a week.

Thanks for the info. Do yu have any idea of the form or document number she should ask for?
I know that all of her names must appear on the form, her maiden name, her first married name and her name now since our marriage, although she will have to wait until her passport is changed. She has 30 days from the date of our marriage. I also heard that form IP-1 should be gotten from the Department of Information Technology at the Ministry for Internal Affairs.
                            Ever hear of this?

I have couple of judges and police headquarters commanders in my pocket, both in Ukraine and Volgograd, Russia.
Pm me and we will fix it, I charge only $200 for all (am generous).

Will check PM in few mins.
