My father petitioned for me when he was permanent resident with I-130 and the petition was approved, moved to the National Visa Center and I had to wait for a visa number with 2B preference. Now my father is American citizen and my preference will become F1. I want to get married and I want to immigrate with my wife even if I have to wait more two or three years. I am wondering if I can keep my petition and priority date because the petition was filled when my father was a resident and there is no category for a resident who can petition for a married son or daughter over 21. Thank you!
I suggest you wait for your visa as F1. Migrate to the US and then marry your girlfriend and file a petition for her.
F3 visa takes years and years of wait. Depending on your country of origin. Other countries like the Philippines F3 processing waiting time is next to forever!
Thank you for the quick response, I appreciate it! Actually I know what is the "quicker" solution but as I said in my posting I can wait a couple more years only to immigrate with my wife. My concern is that I am not sure if I can keep my petition if I change it from F2B to F1 to F3?! If anybody can tell me for sure I'll appreciate it!!

Your father ( which is your sponsor should notify USCIS once he become a US citizen that will put you on F1 caregory)
F2b to F3 ( still your father needs to notify USCIS, that he is now a USC and that you got married) it is very important to report your married status to Immigrations.
Failure to do this, and your F2b visa becomes current, and you migrated here, Immigration will surely find out. They will deport you back!
