I am trying to file to remove the condition on my permanent residence, but I have no clue what the affidavit looks like. Does any one on the board done it before. If so can you please give me an idea as to how to write one

Actually it is not called affidavit it is called petition to remove the conditions on residence,this is the form you need I-751 which is downloadable at INS site or here at ILW.com
this should be sign by both of you and the appropriate fee,i am not sure whether it is $ 125.00
plus you need to submit some of the following proofs:
1.title of the house or proof of rents that shows joint ownership or rental
2.bills,phones or even letters showing Mr. & Mrs.
3.joint bank account checking and saving
4.insurance policy that shows either of you as the beneficiary
5.birth certificate of child,if you have,showing you two as the aprents
6.current letter of emplyments,with the letterhead showing the job, salary and the person to be notified in case of emergency.

Send thru certified mail, Fedex, UPS so you will have evidence of you sending this and can always claim that these docs were sent.Best of luck!

Also on the I-751, be sure to pay by personal check and then get copy front/back of your bank processed check. INS sometimes writes the file number on the front of the check. This is helpful if they never send a receipt or you don't get a decision. (This happens alot at the Texas Service Center). After 60-90 days, head up to your local INS with the file # & photos and have them check for the approval on their computer. If approved, they should go ahead and stamp your passport.

I got my conditions removed in texas and when I went to my local INS, they told me it could take up to a year. And I didn't have to go there, they mailed my new card to me.

Its a good idea to hand the interviewing adjudicating officer a $100 bill as a tip. If you do not do this, it is likely that you will be deported

Why not tip a $1000 but only a $100 ?

After all, $1000 would cover the cost of ticket to most parts of the world (in case of deportation) and thus is a more generous gesture on the part of an alien than giving only a $100.
