Hi 108jam,

Have you hear back from the USCIS about your permanent residency yet?

NO, I have not yet received any news from my filing from temporary to permanent resident.
I also had to renew the EAD, already received the receipt and alos went for finger prints. But no EAD yet.

I have a simple question about css/lulac.
If an I-687 application based on css/lulac has been denied, will the online case status (uscis website + receipt#) be changed to "case denied" instead of "case pending" ?
did anybody whose i-687 case was denied, lately go online and check his or her case status and see any change?

Hi Shabber:

Temporary to permanent--applied in Los Angeles, CA. Interview also in Los Angeles, CA.

The EAD renewal was sent to the Chicago office per application forms. I also called the 800# and spoke to the supervisor who advise me to send the EAD renewal to Chicago.

Hope that answered your questions.

Hi 108jam,

EAD are taking upto 90 days to process. When did you filed your application?

Hector.

EAD filed in April 07--- not a problem. As long as you filed the I-698 within the timeframe and also the renewal EAD, even though you don't have the actual new EAD card yet, its fine. You have the receipt for both filings.

Hi rgm,

Nothing yet. My online status still shows the same thing. The last update on my case was on 3/10/07.
My lawyer said to wait at least 6 months to make, and then he will make an inquiry.

What about you?

Hi rgm,

Yes I have. I went to Mexico and back from the south border. No problems coming back.
I took my daughter with me. The funny thing is that coming back they question her at the point of entry more than they questioned me. I guess with all the child smuggling going on, they wanted to make sure she was indeed my daughter.

The officer barely saw my documents.

I'm planning to go on vacation this July to Ixtapa Zihuatanejo for about 15 days. Smile

Hey Freedom1, I still haven't heard anything back yet, its almost been a month now.

I wanted to ask you something? With the temp residency card you can only travel for a total of 3 times outside the country for the validity of the card or is that per year?

Thanks

Shabber

Hi Shabber,

With your temp residency card you can travel upto 30 days per trip, but no more than 90 days in total (aggregate) between the time you first applied (received date of your I-687) until you become permanent resident.

And how long does it take to become a resident. If I'm not mistaken someone on this message board mentioned that they were continuing to wait for a considerable number of years now.

You mean to adjust your temporary resident status to permanent?
If so, according to my lawyer, it should take about a year or so.

For the people that are still waiting for their adjustment of status to permanent resident, they can always file a writ of mandamus (sue the USCIS) to force them to adjucate their application.

Are you still waiting to receive your temporary residency card?

Its a tiring wait I may add!!!

YES, I did. I was approved I-687 in May 2003 with NO INTERVIEW at all.
At the end of 2005, I filed for change of status using form I-698.
Case was transfered to Los Angeles and was called for interview in March 2006.
At that interview, was given the test and passed it with no problems. Officer told me my case is approved and to wait for background check, then to make appointment for passport stamping.

Then I got a phone call on my cell phone in June 2006. Officer told me to bring my birth certificate first thing the next morning to his office in Los Angeles (SOTO street). I did that at 8 am the next morning. He took a photo copy of my birth certificate, told me he has to use the name on my birth certificate for the green card. Again, said case approved to go and wait for the card.

Well.... its been almost a year. No letter...no card... no call...no updates on the website.

Folks:

Good NEWS!!!
I got a letter in the mail yesterday telling me that I was approved (from I687 to I 698) and a Green Card was ordered and mailed to me in October 2006. However that card was returned by the post office. They again, re-issued a card and sent if June 4th 2007 after I inquired about it.

I have not yet received that re-issued card--should be here in a couple of days hoepfully.

YIPPPE!!!! Oh, while I was waiting for the card/letter---my EAD expired so I renewed it. Finger printed etc...but guess I don't need that now HUH???

Good luck everyone. If I can answer any questions for you, let me know.....I will do my best.

Congratulations 108jam !!!

I'm happy for you.

Since I applied for my change of status (i-687 to i-698), the only thing I've received, is the receipt notice to wait for my biometrics appointment.

I applied back in March '07.

Can you get your passport stamped while you're waiting to receive your card?

Do the 5 years waiting period (to file for citenzenship) count from the day you filed your i-698 or from the actual approval of your permanent green card?

Congratulations again. clap clap

Hi 108jam,

I have some questions, how was your adjustment to LPR interview go?

What kind of questions did they ask you?

Was the civics questions hard at all?

Thanks and congrats again!
