After about 10 months of waiting and with the help of many on the forum I have received the letter to go in for the interview. Here's the link to the original post

But I have yet an other problem. In their letter they ask for me to bring in

a) Alien Registration Card
b)Any reentry permits
c)Passport, Drivers license, or state issued id card with picture

I don't have any of these. And I don't get it. I need the certificate to get most of these things. Any help or ideas.

Maybe I don't understand. You need to have a green card in order to be qualified for citizenship. Are you saying you lost yours?

So, you have no ID? You will not even get in the building. You must have official government ID to enter a federal building.

Seems to me they're wanting some form of valid pictured ID that shows you are who you say you are.

Proudie he doesn't have to have a GC. N-600 is for derivative Citizenship through parents.

Maybe he can get a State issued ID card? Depending on the State, they might not need proof of Citizenship or immigration status.

What evidence are you using to prove your parent(s) are US Citizens?

Im trying to get citizenship threw my father who was born in the U.S.
And I gave them all they needed as far as to prove my father was born here and lived here for the required periods of time. My mom is still only a resident.
And you are right Brit4064 I don't have a green card and as far as I know I cant get a Texas ID without this certificate. I have some Id cards but nothing state or government issued.

to get a TX id I need at least one of these

-drivers license
-United States Citizenship Certificate or Certificate of Naturalization
-Foreign Passport
-United States military ID card

What they want is something official that ties you to your father.

You sure a birth certificate won't work in Texas to get at least a state issued ID card? It may not necessarily have to be a drivers license. Most states have an ID card of one form or another and a birth certificate should be good enough in some states.

Him listed as my father on my birth certificate. Me listed on his tax returns His and my moms marriage license? If so I gave them all that.

Thanks, Brittie. I got confused between N-400 and N-600. Thanks for the clarification.

does derivative Citizenship through parents still need to go through Naturalization process of N400.......? that would be odd to make it so, i thought its much simpler than this..... ever since the law has come into effect few years ago!!!!!

No, it's not N400 for derivative citizenship. It is N600. But, you still have to produce documents that prove your are eligible. I would think a birth certificate with the father's name would be sufficient, but according to the OP, apparently not.

Davdah, the OP wasn't born in the USA so a non-US birth certificate won't work according to the link he gave. Most states have gotten much tougher on the requirements these days.

inh, maybe what evidence you have regarding how you came into the USA might work to get a State ID? Do you have a Social Security number? Have you talked to the authorities about this yet? If you meet a brick wall maybe ask your Congressman or Senator for help?

It looks like Texas didn't think about people in your situation when making the rules. They might have to bend them or worst case you might have to move to another state that has less stringent requirements.

It is true you can't get into a Federal building without a government issued ID of some sort.

For N-600, older than 16 years needs to appear at USCIS office for signature in front of officer. It is not an interview but just part of a procedure.

I have a social security number but its one of those you cant use for work.

True but he still needs to get into the building!

Maybe he could go to the office where the "interview" is being held in advance, explain the situation and ask if they would let him in with his interview letter only and/or SSN etc?

Ive called USCIS to ask what I should do. They really didn't have much to say, except for confirming that I would need a state or government id. And to try and take it up with the DMV. So I did, all they said was that if I didn't have a green card they would need proof of citizenship to get me a TX id, and then suggested I should take it up with USCIS.

The one option left was to call the Mexican consulate.I did and they said I could go to the consulate and get a Mexican passport and one of those id cards they issue. With only my birth certificate, school transcript, and school id card.

But would those forms of id do me any good as far as the USCIS goes.Every time I asked the people at the consulate they just said they were official documents. I could get those as soon as Monday but would it just be a waste time and money.

They will accept foreign-issued passports as ID, so the Mexican passport should work.

True Aroha, a foreign passport should do the trick. Go and get one ASAP inh.

I got the passport. Hopefully that will be enough to get me in.
