I am not familiar with the Philipino culture, nor the country, so I cannot say anything about this, and neither does this argument have any merit because this isn't the Philipines here. This is United States and it doesn't matter whether it is ok to drink in Philipines. It is not ok to drink and drive in this country.
I understand your situation is tough and the laws are biased against fathers.
At least you've got joint custody, so not everything is lost. Hang in there!

Hi dcwtech,

I'm sorry to hear all those terribly bad things that you experienced. I can't say that I entirely buy the whole story because of the issues about having good credit without SSS numbers, paying for a house without having your name in the deed, etc. (as pointed out earlier by the other posters).

However, seeing that you're talking about my first home country, I strongly take exceptions about numerous generalizations that you made.

It doesn't matter if you claim that you say Filipinos themselves are the ones who told you about the Philippines being a jungle where everybody doesn't respect the law and drinking and driving are okay, among other things - absolutely false. The hearsay info you got is wrong.

1. The matter about your supposed mother-in-law's pronouncement - "Because it's the Filipino way!" when family members stayed in your dwelling illegally - I can assure you, that is DEFINITELY NOT the Filipino way. Obviously, you are with what I will consider as low-quality people - no matter what their race or nationality is - if these people are not following the laws, they are low-quality people. People in the Philippines have laws and the concept of the "rule of law" is most certainly accepted. The presence of corruption in any country doesn't mean that there is no rule of law. Same goes for not even testifying against a fellow Filipino - that's just false. If a person is honest, Filipino or not, if the court subpoenaed that person and is asked to tell the truth, then the truth will be told.

2. This statement:
"I Can Only Guess Because Of severe Circumstances Their Own Country. "Take What You Can" Some Statements They Made To Me. : When There Is A Typhoon In The Philippines It Is Called Free Day! A Day When Neihbors Lose Their Homes, Possesions, Etc. And Everyone Else Runs Into The streets And Gets free stuff At The Neihbors loss! I Started To look For Answers. I Found That Those 7000 plus Islands Of The Philippines Kinda Live A Jungle Rule! Desperate People Fighting For something Better, No Matter What!"

Again, fiction. In my more than 30 years of stay in the Philippines, never has never been a "free-for-all day" simply because typhoons struck the country. You should understand, this country is in the path of typhoons, more than a hundred or so typhoons (with varying degrees of intensity) hit the country and no looting or breaking of glasses or that sort of thing has happened. If that were the case, there would not be major commercial districts with high-end shopping there that would remain in business.

3. And another:
"The Oldies Here Will Tell You To Be Very Careful Because 80% Are Bad! This Stuff didnt Come From Me, I Got It From Them! I Just Happened To Experience It And Live It! Also Keep In Mind My Wife didnt cook, Didnt Know How To Do Laundry, I Cooked, cleaned, Picked Up after Everyone. Which I Didnt Mind. See This Family I Experienced Had YA YAS 5 To be exact. They Came From The Upper Side. Theres No Middle Class there! Wealth Or poor! Nothing In Between! The Rich treat The Poor Like Slaves There!!! I Saw It here Too With Them. Using Other Filipinos And Treating Them Like ****!"

The "oldies" that you were referring to, I'm assuming, are the Filipinos who had been here in the US for a long time. Just to state the obvious, nobody can make that kind of assertion about any race or nation - whether or not they came from that race/nation. To be able to come up with that kind of figure, one should have complete statistics of the number of Filipinos who came to a country, count the number of those who committed illegal acts. I doubt the people who you allege to have heard it from has done that. In fact, Filipinos are the second highest number of LEGAL migrants to the US.

And the middle-class is definitely alive and kicking in there. There are Henry Sy and Lucio Tan who are 2 people from the Philippines who are included in the world's list of billionaires, and of course, those who eat with rice and salt as their viand. They may have kids who are unable to even have elementary schooling and their houses are worse than trailers. But, there are also people who have lifetime memberships in gyms, drive their own cars, go out with their girl friends for a weekly Friday night at Starbucks or Seattle's Best, go to nearby Asian countries for the must-do shopping - that's definitely middle-class. I should know, I was a part of it there then.

As for the rich supposedly maltreating their housemaids, that's a personality trait (and if I may add, a cliche of the rich supposedly downtrodding the poor). It's not peculiar to the Filipinos only. Neither is the supposed drinking and driving as being okay. Of course it's not legal, and we have people in jail who drink and drive. Please don't generalize the rest of the Filipino people with these FALSITIES that you have heard.

You may have a bad situation with somebody, obviously a low-life (assuming arguendo that what you were writing about your wife and her family's character is absolutely true), but it doesn't warrant bashing all of us Filipinos who happen to be anywhere in the world. I am here in the US, never broke a law, never overstayed, and did all that is required legally for me to become a permanent resident. If I say that 80% of Filipinos are the best people in the world, that's obviously self-serving, and no one in their right mind should accept it as fact. Neither should you or somebody (and I don't care if they speak Filipino) say that 80% of them are manipulative or crooked or bad without having anything to back it up, except hearsay from people who definitely are not representative of the Filipino people.

This is an immigration forum - and there are various people of all races who are represented here. It is a matter of common decency to NOR generalize about the race or country of whoever married for the greencard simply because that is a flaw in a person's character.

If you have talked about any other race for that matter, I will be saying the same. Possibly, not as detailed as my post here but bottom-line is nobody is entitled to be dragging a whole race/nation just because of negative experience with one person/family.

This was a great post, Mrs. B. I'm so glad you took the time to share your side of the story with the OP. You are absolutely correct about making generalizations regarding race, country or any other aspect. Not all people fit in the same mold.

Furthermore, the matter also of supposed tension with Hispanics - you said "Most Filipinos Ive Met Dont Really Like Spanish Speaking People. Or Koreans. I Havnt Been Able To Figure Out Why??? Most Filipinos Have More Spanish Blood Than Asian. A Mix japanese, chinese, Spanish, etc. Whats Up With That????"

What's up with that too? It's not true. I know of somebody who even went to Spain for masteral studies. I myself love J. Lo! And I and my husband (he's a Boston native) are also starting to study the Spanish language. Just in case you may be thinking that people in the Philippines are carrying negative feelings from their former conquerors - Spain, Japan and the USA - there is definitely nothing of that sort. Here in GA, I can say that true to Southern hospitality, all people of all color greet each other with the customary "How're you doing?" or nodding/smiling in acknowledgment. Hispanics greet me and I greet them as well. We have Korean clients and nothing of that mild disliking exist as well.

Just to reiterate, I just wanted to clear some matters. I am not detracting from your bad experience with your immigrant wife. And I hope that your child won't be adversely affected. (Insofar as the relatives that are illegally staying and making your life worse, I would imagine that you should reported them immediately.)

I think it was NeedHelpFast who posted something about this before, I will reiterate it in part here, just as a reminder to avoid being scammed by people who marry for the greencard:

1. If somebody asks the US citizen for money - for whatever reason - it's a red flag.
2. To decrease the chances of marrying somebody who's after the citizenship, don't marry somebody 10 years younger than you are.
3. If possible, marry somebody who has already finished a bachelor's degree - she would not be dependent on the husband for the money, will be educated and the US citizen won't have communication problems.
4. If a woman drinks heavily, especially if she's from the Philippines, my opinion is that that woman lacks breeding.

Great post Mrs B. You are absolutely right.
Some Americans, esp. those that rarely travel (aka most republicans), do tend to shape their views on isolated cases, such as this one.

I have a suspicion in this case, as we haven't heard the other side of the story, that the situation as described by OP could actually be the reverse.
What gives a hint is that the OP was driving the car, he hit his wife while driving, BUT it was his wife who got stopped and charged with DUI. Hmm...
Plus all the instances where the wife called the police and wanted the guy out of the house...
Seems to me that the one drinking and driving under influence is the husband, not the wife... and hitting her at the same time.

Hello Mrs B...

Im so glad to hear .We share the same home country.

The OP here is contradicting what he says
and I mean a lot of it.

If you read back he mentioned his wife family
has 5 Yayas.. So she's rich and she's basically
from one rich city ( Cebu City). The mother in law pays $1200 share for the mortgage. He use
the mother in law cradit to cosign the deeds.

I don't buy it either, Actually I think
he need a theraphy , a mental one!
I doubt who's really the victim here.

Yup Sprint. PLUS he said that he was in prison. I guess when you do the DUI you go to prison, don't you?
I haven't heard in your story dcwtech that your wife spent any time in prison for DUI. You've missed that point to sound more believable.

My advice for you dcwtech is AA.

You Have the Utmost highest Respect for Yourselves! You prosper From Your Appearance And Ability To Consume! So Many Fall Under Your Spell! looks First, Then Your Ability To Manipulate. "Because You Are Well educated And Smart". When A Person from This World Finally Realizes That The Outside And The Words just Seem To Lack Something????? Cant Really Put a finger on It? but After Awhile The beautiful On The Outside Becomes invisible! And The Senses God Gave Us As A Good One. Begins To Prevail!!! We begin To see What Is Truly beautiful!!!! Everyone Gets Old Eventually!!! And Its The End Lifestyle And Way Of thinking that makes the ULTIMATE difference!!!! Preying on Those Because of your outer beauty and taking advantage of that outer beauty is only temporary Girls! Its The END that makes the difference! Have fun, Play The games, deceive and manipulate to your hearts desire! in the end, its the truth that makes the difference!!!! Use your outer selves and the misdirection as long as you can. Because in the end it will be considered as temporary! And remembered that Way!!!!!

to Need help fast,
I know what you are saying. but In VA. its different. I live in NJ now. I moved here from San diego. All happend when I was in SD. I don't know how it happend but When I visited school I was told by the principal of the school. She gave me the record that My name is not there as father, so I cannot see child without mother. I ask if you have anything to back it up by the Law she said Its the only form we filed. we don't required court order or anything. There is no court order , no divorce , no custody bettle. its just Wiffe's mom used to blackmail me for money, and forget signature to take petition back while her daughter still living me, when I came to know that my GC is cencelled, I asked them, Now daughter want to protect mother from the authority so she got quite on forged signature. Mom called USCIS and I got detained, fought with Immigration to remove me but they can't because file got lost in immigration, Detained for 8 months, lived with criminals for 8 months, finally got out filed joint motion, got approved and terminated case by my own. Good thing I did, took many out from custody with me according to law.
When came back traced down Kids and went to school, found out what Happend, never gone back, left everything , don't want to see these people face again my life who are greedy for money, I,m engineer by profession and worked for good money so they tried to cut me in half.
well Now I am back on my foot again.. got another good job.
so moral to the story:
Forget the past and move-On.
Don't marry Guyanese girl by any means.

Its a discussion, not a legal advise..

Hey hey, speed. Count me in. That makes three of us. If you'd believe the old Chinese proverb: sān rén chéng hǔ (or Three People Make a Tiger), then if we claim that live tigers roam around Manila marketplaces, that should be true, even if it's a logical fallacy. (Just kidding, folks).
