My wife, who is from the Philippine, and I got married in the USA in May 2004. (No problem whatsoever in getting her over here. We were fortunate to have had an consulate e mail address from the Philippine Embassy that expedited everything for us.) After getting her here, we filed for work permit, adjustment of status, finger printing, etc.

We sent our paperwork to the local immigration office (Minnesota) and they within 2 weeks return it to us saying we were to send it to the Nebraska center. No problem (All has gone well. She is here for the next two years.)

Today (Nov. 12, 2004)I received in the mail from my local immigration office a letter saying my wife and I have an appointment Feb. 1, 2005, at the local office to be interviewed to get her permanent green card! 9 months after we were married!!

(I thought we had to wait 1 1/2 to 2 years in order to apply for this appointment?

We did not ask, nor submitted any application for this appointment? Can anyone tell me what is going on?

Sure...it would be great to get my wife's green card in 9 months from marriage, but is this typical? Do I need to contact someone to cancel this appointment or should we just show up for the appointment?

Are they shortening the time for this interview from 2 years to less time? To under a year now?

Anyone who may know, the information would be greatly appreciated!

DJ,

That is your AOS interview. The length of time required to adjust status varies widely depending upon where in the country you are located. New York City and Dallas do it within 90 days but places like Atlanta take over 2 years. Consider yourself lucky. I'm not sure why you would want to cancel the appointment?? You don't apply for the appointment per se, you are granted the appointment after you file the AOS (I-485, etc).

Congratulations on getting the interview in such short time.

hi DJ, it's definitely normal to get the interview in 9 months. You wife will get the Conditional GC (which will be expired in two years) if she got approved. I waited for 2 years and 1 months for my Interview. Now I got my PERMANENT GC. You guy are lucky to have the interview that quick.

Michael you have the funniest questions! Is 'banging' the most important thing in a woman? Thats so sad.

If thats the case, why do you have to order some from so far away? Why dont you just get those layabouts down your street and bang them every day, then you dont have to come to this board?
