We haven't talked to him yet. We went to see the attorney that you recomended and he told us that we need to wait until he gets the notice to appear and we know for sure what are the charges. We find out that he has a bond of $5,000. We are trying to figure out how to pay the bond so he can be realese. We don't know if we have to pay the full amount or we need to find someone to pay the bond. Also, we don't know where we need to go to pay the bond. I would let you know more as soon as we know something new.

You will have to pay the full amount.

A U.S. citizen sometimes can put up collateral in lieu of a monetary amt through a bondsman if they don't have it. It's paid at the immigration building bond office by the bondsman or other.

You will have to pay the full amount OR if you go through a bondsman then you pay a percentage....ou can pay the bond at the detention center providing that it is government immigration center like Port Isabell or EL paso.

If you pay the full amount to immgration yo'll have to make it payable to the Department of Homeland Security don't put DHS it need to be fully spelt out, you'll get interest on the 5,000 once the case is complete.

DHS will refund the full amount but you're correct Mike_2007, the bondsman will keep a percentage of it in the end. In a lot of cities it's difficult to find a bondsman dealing with immigrants I hear Dallas has many.

The attorney said that if he is charged with smuggling charges. There is nothing that he can do. He will be deported; the only thing that the attorney could do it’s to appear at the hearing and asks the judge to let him go back to his country voluntarily. This way he won't face the 10 years penalty (he will lose his residency) but he will have the chance to apply again (his mother and 2 brothers are citizens).

Mike, you know you made a valid point about how come he was't given any paper stating his charges.

Remember we have not talked to my cousin. We don’t know if he has the notice to appear. We know that he has a bond because a guy that was detained with him got release today and he call us and let us know about the bond (my cousin asked him to do that). Also, he told us where they have him. We are planning to go tomorrow and try to pay the bond.
