You will have to check other websites about your questions related to your status in Canada - folks here are dealing with US immigration matters and have no clue about Canadian immigration law and practices.

However, about your US citizenship: If you can prove you were born here then you are still a citizen. All you will need is a US birth certificate.

You can not lose your Us citizenship but there are tax issues with having dual citizenship.

You are a US citizen to the end since you were born here.

Even if you left US as 1 day old, at 100 years old you are still US citizen, unless you give it up or engage in 'enemy action'.

There are no tax issues. Its permanent residence that has tax issues.

All you need is a proof of your U.S. citizenship like a birth certificate or a U.S. passport. Then just roll up to customs on the bridge with your u-haul and be gone to Michigan.

Cheers.

Needless to say, I think you qualified to be a Canadian citizen already. Why dont you just get it and have dual citizenship before coming here? Just in case-you may come here and not like it, after so many years.

Go to http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/citizen/index.html

I think you should have become a Canadian citizen very many years ago. Check the requirements!
