For adjustment of status you do not need passport. If the AOS is based on Marriage, you will receive a conditional greencard. If it is based on other, you will received 10-year permanent greencard.

AOS ( they don't stamp passport)Sorry bout that I thought your on I-751 application.
but you still need to renew your passport they might check on it during your AOS interview. Don't forget to bring your old passport too.( they will check your visa and your I-94)
