Has any one been able to discover their name check is cleared, only to learn that USCIS has not updated their records, and therfore stalling the interview and oath process? If yes, please share with me how long, what other hoops you may have jumped through to bring about finality?
The problem is it's hard to discover much unless the FBI tell you it has cleared and they don't do that. Any FOIA discovery only tells you what happened to your primary file and not any secondary file information (the manual search thing). USCIS claim to check every week or month, depending on the service center, on the status of the outstanding namecheck cases.
And of course, they aren't gonna tell you about any ongoing investigations either.
If you find out how please let me know!

My local congressman's assistant called the FBI and they told him that my name check was clear, and it had been returned to USCIS. This information confirms what I was told by an FBI agent who was working with me on an unrelated issue, that, my name check was cleared and returned to USCIS on March 21, 2008. So, now I wait some more. The congressmans office told they they would continue to moniter this.
I just back a reply from the FBI on my FOIA request. They no longer take requests from individuals and give me the name and address of the person in charge of USCIS whose dealing with these matters:
USCIS Magada S. Ortiz, Director FOIA/PA Program 425 I Street, NW, 2nd Floor ULLICO Building Washington, D.C 20536
So I'm gonna bypass that and go to the Congressman's office again to find out. I'm sure it'll be quicker than going thru the USCIS!
