HI.
I applied for work authorization in december, 04. Now, my lawier said I nhave to wait 1.5 years to get it. Does it really take that long?

My next question is: after I get my work auth. and I apply wor travel document is it safe to travel????
I just want to go to Europa to visit my parents for a week.

Please , let me know what you think.

Time to get W/A is about right. But travelling to outside the US and returning again would depend on the terms and condition for getting the W/A. Your best shot is to consult your attorney who filled for your W/A.
Make sense?
Regards.

how long the work authorization takes actually depends on the basis of which you are eligible.
EAD through marriage based AOS usually takes about three months

Uh, I've a hard time believing an EAD will take 1.5 years to get.....unless you're just starting with Labor Cert. process or something like that. Most SC is processing EAD within 6 months. Whats the basis of your lawyer's statement???
