Does anyone know whether a legal sworn affidavit is accepted in place of a lost Birth Certificate?

My V-Visa interview is almost due and I dont have my Nigerian BC which was lost a very long time ago.

You will need 2 sworn affidavits from individuals ( preferably parents ) who have personal knowledge of the event ( your birth). You will also need a letter from the authorities stating that the BC is not available. Also, you may want to check the US Embassy site in Nigeria if there is "local" twist to handling of such matters.
