Is there anybody who can help me to anwser my question?
My husband is workin on one of the ships of Carnival Cruise Lines. He is going to sign off July 12 from the ship.I decided to surprise him(we live in Europe)and fly to Miami to see him at the airport, and then we would stay another 6 more days before flying home together. The problem is that he has only a C-D visa.Is he alllowed to stay an additional 6 days after he signed off from the ship,or is there any place in Miami where we can get a stamp for overstay in his passport?
Please,help me

Your husband with a C1-D visa it is ot allowed to stay in Miami.THat visa type only allows you on the ship.Maybe your husband could speak to a BCIS officer on the ship.He needs a B1 visa at least to stay. You can contact BCIS or a lawyer to get more information. To extend his visa requires a longer process and involves a lot.
Good luck!!!(Sok szerencset)

Hi,
If your husband is able to sign off the ship within the Visa Waiver Program & has proof...i.e. plane ticket of departure from the USA, it should be fine.
I know you want this as a surprise, but it is best that your husband talks to the crew purser on board, who should be able to give him all the information he needs for this vacation to happen for you. Good luck with everything :)

If his D visa hasn't expired by the time he disembarks or by the time your vacation is over, it should be OK if he stays in Miami for a week or two. The tricky part is the visa expiration date: as long as it is not expired you can stay legally in US for no more than 30 days (as described on the back of the little I-94 form BCIS gives when entering US). The idea of talking to the crew purser onboard however, is very, very good...Have fun in Miami... :)
