As far as i know about this issue is if a U.S. citizen who resides in the United States marries an alien, the alien is eligible to receive a green card on the basis of the marriage. The spouse of a U.S. citizen is considered to be an "immediate relative", and is thus eligible to apply for permanent residency.

In order to obtain permanent residency, the alien spouse's relationship with the U.S. citizen must be established and the alien spouse must be eligible for admission to the United States under the governing immigration laws. The marriage must be bona fide, not merely a fraud or sham to obtain a green card. The USCIS takes fraudulent marriage very seriously, and applicants will be required to provide supporting documents to establish that their marriage is valid.

Why did you break the law and over stayed your visa? Now you want to circumvent the process by marrying a USC and then converting your self from ILLEGAL to LEGAL.

Hi Cclover,

I suggest you read each form carefully
and follow the instructions.There's a mailing address written on each application form make sure to send each form on the right mailing address.You can send them all at once but with their respective mailing address.

This is important: make sure to send the correct
payment of each application form through money order. You can find that on USCIS website.

@Cclover:
Welcome to ILW! Before I write more, just ignore White USC, Someone12, Dcwtech, MakeItRight, Son of Michael etc. These people are always here, and never contribute to the forum...
So, I would suggest what 4now said...check if your USC wife can apply a resident card for you. Good luck, and please update us! Smile

Ability may get you to the top, but it takes character to keep you there.

If sent at different times, each form goes to a different address. If sent together, they all go to the same address: Chichago lock box (if that wasn't changed in the last few months). But as Speed says, read the instructions carefully.

Hi CClover37, just wanted to wish you luck on your Greencard Journey, All I can really add to what most have said is read the instructions, you will need about 6+ passport style photos, I think it was 2 with nearly each form, and your wife will need a couple done aswell.

The forms are quite easy going, and you will not need a lawyer, send in as much marital/joint evidence in with your forms as you can, dont forget to send just copies, not the original documents, I enclosed the photo's in a small clear sandwich bag, paperclipped to each of the forms that required photo's.

Also include a covering letter and a contents page of what you have sent.

If I/we can be of anymore help, just let one of us know, I am sure one of us would be able to answer your questions.

Hopefully you will have the luck of a 4 leaf clover and your processing will be pretty quick.

And now, like all the other 12M irresponsible illegals....whine whine whine,,,followed by "oh woe is me...please tell me what loopholes are available for an irresponsible potatoe-head like me....." how tiresome.
