DEARBORN, Mich., March 26, 2009 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Fiesta Movement Gains Momentum with Arrival of 100 Fiestas on U.S. Shores
One hundred Ford Fiestas are arriving at ports in Baltimore and Oxnard, Calif., bringing U.S. consumers one step closer to experiencing Ford Motor Company's (F, Trade ) anticipated small global vehicle as a part of the "Fiesta Movement." Through the program, 100 young trendsetters will be chosen as "agents" to drive the Fiestas for six months and relate their experiences through social media sites such as Facebook, Flickr and YouTube. Fiesta is a hit in Europe and Asian markets, where it's already the second-best selling vehicle of any make across Ford's 19 major European markets. The Fiesta Movement also is catching the attention of consumers, with more than 3,300 agent applications and 580,000 views of video submissions on YouTube. more... Have you see one of these micro one step above a go-cart cars? I can see why it's liked in asia. But here it won't take hold since people want something that makes them feel safe and not vulnerable. Ford tried this in the late 80's with the festiva. Not much different in name or appearance 20 years later.

They need to come up with fuel efficient cars that are solid and make the consumer feel safe. Who would feel safe in these go-kart type cars when competing with tractor trailers on the highways??? They can keep their tin cans. I'll wait until they show us something better.

I think it's going to work. It all depends on how they are advertised. Nowadays it's chique to drive small cars. It's the Republican Klotz Nobility vs. the People. You have to remember that under Bush one got a tax refund for buying a big car. You see what I mean?

I don't go quite that far - lol! Even driving a Mitsubishi Eclipse can be quite intimidating alongside those truckers - especially with the top down!!! At least I have some metallic support surrounding me - lol!.

Nip in and out of the traffic pretty quick though in that! Try one of these, a Tesla all electric sports car: Reportedly 200+ miles on a full charge, top speed 125mph, 0-60 in 3.9 secs! No gear change needed because there's only one gear LOL Here's Top Gear's take on it:

Screw the owner? GM Continues Rally On 7,500 Buyouts; Hopes For More Govt Aid Font size: A | A | A 10:18 AM ET 3/27/09 | Dow Jones RELATED QUOTES 10:46 AM ET 3/27/09 Symbol Last % Chg GM 3.75 9.97% Real time quote. By Donna Kardos
Of DOW JONES NEWSWIRES
NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--Shares of General Motors Corp. (GM) continued their rally Friday, climbing as much as 16% on continued hopes that the Obama Administration will provide further aid to auto makers.
In addition, investors were cheered by the auto maker's news Thursday that 7,500 employees - 12% of it U.S. hourly work force - took buyout or early retirement offers, although that is far short of the amount the company ultimately needs.
"Wall Street likes the removal of uncertainty," which is helping move GM's shares higher, Efraim Levy, an equity analyst with Standard & Poor's, told Dow Jones Newswires.
Still, Levy - who also said part of the rally could be driven by short sellers locking in profits - thinks the rally is unwarranted. "Our theme with GM is we think there's the hope to save GM the company, but not necessarily the GM shareholders," Levy said. If the owner (stock holder) is being bent over who is on the delivery? Three letters. UAW. No mention of them for weeks now. The lame stream media isn't mentioning the fact the union thugs haven't budged an inch. The socialist whom the company is negotiating with isn't going to press for those concessions either. The thugs know that and are sitting there happily waiting for more welfare stimulus to their paychecks. But what does this have to do with your car? Nothing. Its about pushing an agenda that believes jobs are a state given right at the expense of the U.S. tax payer regardless if what they make is marketable. AIG bonuses bad. Even though they amounted to 0.1% of what they ultimately saved. Kinda like you finding a way for your company to save $1000.00 and your boss giving you $1.00 as a bonus. Would you think it fair Obama take it away from you? Demonize you in the public's eye? Make your name public so your family could be threatened? Union welfare good. Produce cars at a cost 50% higher than your rivals. Cars generally seen as inferior. Another obamanation in the making. Nothing new. He's spent more in 60 days than all other presidents combined. What a record. What a change!
