Ah, what wonderful words - Approval Notice Smile

I130 for my stepdaughter in Brazil was approved today. We only applied last April! When we lived in Boston we were told it would take a year. Then we moved to the Seattle area, and had to file in Nebraska, where according to the processing times it would take two years. Then we recieved notice that the application was sent to California in October! Seems like CIS is really making some headway - in some areas.

Now questions - I know they'll probably be answered eventually anyway, but I'm impatient and want to know:

How soon must an immigrant visa be acted on? Is there an expiration? We weren't planning on bringing her up until summer (good timing for school)but are prepared to do so sooner if need be.

Anyone with experience with the Consulates in Brazil? According to the website, all immigrant visa interviews are conducted in Rio. However, SD only lives an hour from Brasilia. Think there's a possibility she could interview in Brasilia?

What a Christmas present, huh?
