I've been reading on people's experiences during their interviews, but all the stories are from people who are getting their green cards thru marriage. Has anyone gone to the interview with a family based interview, but not thru marriage? I've filed my I-485 thru my stepdad and I'm wondering what kind of questions they ask? Do they even have interviews for people in my situation? Thanks

Hi Herbit, we are in the same boat, my stepdad filed for my papers and we waiting for an interview. I'm guessing that you filed under 245i, when did you mail in your paperworks?

Hey Malakai. Yes I did file under 245i. We went to a lawyer and we filled out all the forms on March 7th. I'm not sure if they haven't sent the packet so for that reason I feel so anxious all the time. I sometimes find myself thinking too much about this. I think and think about anything that would hurt my chances. Have you been fingerprinted? When did you file? I would really like to know your experience so far so I could feel better. Thanks

Hi Herbit,
I am also waiting. My mother(USC) filed for me in 2001 when she was a LPR. My visa number finally became current in Feb of this year. I sent in the I-485 and two weeks later got a Biometrics appt. They also wanted my medical so I sent that in. It's been 4wks now and I haven't heard anything yet.

Herbit,
Well it seems that we are the same person, I didn't use a lawyer...i did all the paper work myself. I check these website almost all day long. I'm also plague that i might have done something wrong or thinking that i might be missing something(the problem is that i just have too much time on my hand, and i have nothing else to worry about, except immigration of course) My PD became current in January...I mailed in all the froms i-485a,i-485,i-765,g-325a,and my medical on Feb 10, they got it on the 13th and Within 2 weeks i got an NOA and then i was schedule for an fingerprint appointment on the 9 of March. I haven't heard anything so far since then... Since your Lawyer mail everything off on the 7th you'll probably hear something this week or by the following week.

Malakai,
You're right! We're in the same boat. I'm not sure where you are, but I'm in Houston and I didnt apply for the EAD because the lawyer said that they are processing I-485 really quickly. He told me that they have a new system for doing background checks which make the process go faster. Did you have to send in a Affidavit of Support?

Hi Herbit
I sent my I-485, 325a and I-864W in on Feb 1. 2wks later, I got a biometrics appt for Mar 1(I did go and get fingerprinted). I also got a request for my medical which I sent in on Mar 2. I haven't heard anything since. I didn't send an I-765 because I have a current one based on TPS.

Yeah Herbit, i mailed in everything(all the paper works)and i guess your lawyer is right because i haven't heard anything about the employment EAD application, but i did get an interview letter. The interview letter states that if you haven't mailed in the affidative of support, or your medical that you can take it with you, and give it to the interviewing officer. I'll keep you posted.
I understand what your going thur so let me know if you have ANY questions, i don't know much, but i'll try to get an answer for you.

p.s. i'm in NYC

I'm a little worried. I think my lawyer's assistant sent out my paperwork on or around the 21st of March, but I still havent gotten the receipt letter. I've read other people's experience and it seems like my case is moving slow. Should I be worried? Thanks

herbit & malakai: I think you are over 21 years of age and one of your parent is a US Citizen. If this is the case then you should be in good shape, not to worried about.

One of my friend had received an approval of I-130 NOA I-797. file for his daughter's papers which include I-485, G-325-A, I-684, with the bank statement and parents tax for the last 3 years.
Her case is also based on family petitioned for her. They have to mail all the documents to Chicago Office.
Where have you mailed?
Please keep in touch with this board.
with best of luck.

Hi Herbit,
I also haven't heard anything back yet. I mailed my medical in on Mar 2. I called the customer service # yesterday and actually spoke with a very nice officer. He checked my A# and said that everything has been received and I should be getting an interview date soon. So I'm also still waiting.
