tntdino,
I'm sure you already know this, but there's a consulate general of the Phillippines and Japan in San Francisco. I'm assuming you're in Oakland since you went to you fingerprints there. This is what I found...

Passport Renewal
1. What do I need to renew my Philippine Passport?
Each applicant must appear in person at the Consulate and have with them the following:

An accomplished passport application form
Their latest passport
One (1) copy of the passport data page(s)

for brown passports – make a copy of the pages which show the data and picture of the applicant

Two (2) passport size photos (2” x 2”, colored, white background) of the applicant, taken within six (6) months of filing for renewal
If applicant’s last passport is the brown one – which only shows the applicant’s middle initial – a copy of any VALID IDENTIFICATION which shows their WHOLE MIDDLE NAME must also be provided. Acceptable forms of Identification are:

State ID or Driver License
Certified Copy of Birth Certificate or Marriage Certificate
Baptismal Certificate
The fee for a passport is $50.00 – accepted forms of payment are cash, money order, cashier’s check or bank draft made payable to the Philippine Consulate. Personal Checks, Credit or Debit Cards are not accepted.

Phone: 415-433-6666

This is the number for the consulate of Japan
Tel: (415)777-3533
You should call them and ask them what you need to renew your son's passport. I think it's better to have a valid passport whether or not USCIS needs it.

Thanks Herbit, I'm pretty sure we can get my wife's renewed prior to the interview. I'm more concerned about getting my step son's renewed. I think both parents need to go to a Japanese Consulate in person with the child. If that is the case we are S.O.L, because his father has been M.I.A for over three years. But thank you for all the information it's very helpful.

Tntdino,
Give the Consulate of Japan a call and see what they say. Hopefully they'll give you some good news. Let me know what happens. Good Luck!

Styleboy,
My mother(an LPR at the time)petitioned(I-130) for me(already in the US and over 21yrs) in April 2001. She became a USC in 11/2005. My priority became current on 02/01/07. Mailed my I-485 on 02/01/07, got biometrics appt 2wks later. Also got letter asking for medical. On Mar 2, 2007, fingerprints done, medical mailed. ~4wks later, interview appt received for May 22, 2007. Interview done May 22, greencard stamped in passport. May 29, received welcome to US letter. Still waiting for actual card. Hopes this help. Any questions, will be glad to answer.

Can anyone share his or her adjustment of status interview experience under section 245i?(FAMILY BASE) in details. Please provide timeline. Also what is the time frame between when you applied and recieved EAD and your AOS interview date? Section 245i was the law which allow some immigrant who were out of status or EWI to be inteview here in the state provided a petition was file for the individual before april 30,2001 and a penalty of 1,000 paid.

Did they ask for an I-864?(you have I-684 in your OP) This is the affidavit of support form which has to be sent in with tax returns of the parents from the last 3 yrs. If they are asking for the mother's birth certificate, then it should be sent too. I just went through this my self.

Yaaa,
I sent my application on April 2nd.
I got my fingerprint appointment for May 2nd
And I'm going to my interview on June 12th.
I didn't apply for advance parole since I dont need to go anywhere and I didn't apply for an EAD because my lawyer said that they are processing AOS' faster than EAD's

Hey everyone
I just got back from my interview. I was told that I had to wait because my background checks havent come back. During the interview, the officer walk out of the room and I saw a sheet on my file that said that my checks had cleared. She told me that she needed to get my other immigration files together before they could approve my case. She told me that everything looked good and that once my checks come back that they would mail me a decision. I think it's weird that she would tell me that my background checks didn't clear because I saw the sheet that said no record next to the FBI name check.

hi herbit,
it rather unfortunate thing's turn out this way. One will be expecting to have his or her application approved right after the interview, espacially after waiting for all this years. Let's hope ur background check clear very soon. I thought USCIS do the back ground check before they schedule you for an interview? Herbit what are some of the question she asked you, did the question of how you came here, why you over stayed, you know all those why and how questions. how long did your interview lasted?
