I really have learned alot by your replies, thanks in advance even if your not able to help me. I am an U.S. citizen who lives in Italy with my husband who is a airline pilot. We will be married for 2 years in May,thats when I would like to file the petition for his perm res. but there's just one BIG problem...could he show intent of keeping his perm res. in U.S. while working in Italy, while he sent applications airline companies in the U.S.? The airline indrusty isn't at it's best in the U.S. so we aren't so quick to leave what we have in here now.He and his family has invested alot of money and effort into his career and we wouldn't want to chance throwing all that away,if he left his job here to go to the U.S. and didn't find a job soon, it could have effects on his career. We're really between a risk and ...a risk. Any information you might be able to give would be greatly valued,Happy Holidays, thanks again,Bree.

I know of GC holders who lived out of the US for extended periods because of work. They apparently managed to prove their intent to keep GC status by getting approvals from immigration before extended absences, maintaining property, bank accounts, etc. in the U.S.
