This here also do bother me alot . I lived in the US long enough to know that the american immigration system is really a mess. About a month ago the new york post posted even ILW posted a link saying that the immigartion had made some mistakes regarding some deportation linked to change of address, Because they found over 2 millions forms somewhere where nobody never looked at and some of those forms found were change of address forms that people did mailed on time but because of the fact that they didnt look at them and there's law saying if you dont tell them you'll get deported they did deported some people ...What are they going to do about that? Are they going to have them (the deported)come back? 2D ISSUE: The immigration is asking people to have their marriage being in good faith ...Are all americans marrige happening in good faith?they are asking immigrants to have stuff like bank accounts ,car notes,i means things in both their names..Do all americans have that in both their names? I dont think so .So does that make their marriage not based on good faith or because they are americans it doesnt matter? People in this country are so stupid and dont think .they go to sleep get nightmares and put those nightmares into law to make life hard on others .Why? Please do not reply to this if you wont think before you'll speak because seem like that's what 's happening in here .I do speak with lots of logics so do so ... Thank you

A marriage being in good faith means that the purpose of the marriage is not to get immigration benefits. (ie green card) When a non-citizen marries a citizen, it should be because they want to get married, not because the non-citizen can't find another way to enter the country, or get a work permit etc. When two USC get married, they don't have those issues. I don't agree with all the immigration laws and practices in place, but there has to be a way to find out if two people are getting married for the real reasons or not. Otherwise you would find millions of people paying off USC's to marry them, in order to get a green card.

Yes that's very true and i do know and believe that's how it should be of course but still my question remain unanswered...What about the mistake made by INS deporting people by error of their own.Im saying that because i have a friend in seattle that has been deported .He was told he didnt file for a change of address while he did .He's on of the people deported under immigration mistake. What about that?

Regarding the change of address issue, I have no comments. I agree with you that it makes no sense. If the change of address issue was the only reason they were deported, they should be allowed to re-enter under their previous visa-status.

We get it.... over and over and over... on several posts that you are unhappy with American Immigration.
We don't make the rules... Nothing can be for your complaining here. Write your state representative and whine to him where it actually might matter.

M - This IS the place to complain, whine, vent, cry, discuss problems, and try to come up with solutions. We are here to share informationa nd ideas, and I was very interested to read these posts. Who are you to tell someone they are not able to speak? Especially in a forum specifically designed for such thing?
Bass- Thank you for sharing that info. That is good to know, as there are many ppl who claim that no one ever gets deported because the INS makes mistakes or loses things. I'm sure many lives have been turned upside down and inside out because of this. Perhaps you should send this article on to your representatives. juju

The system is a mess, I agree, but like others said, a few bad people have made things difficult for honest immigrants. Marriages for green cards and benefits have made officials suspicious. Although I don't agree with the tone of an earlier post, it is a good idea to write to your congressman. It is good to vent here and get opinions, but every last one of us needs to write to our state and federal governments and light a huge fire under them. I do it all the time, especially on the issue of immigration and the need for laws that protect our country and help the immigrant. I hope all of you will do the same. You all have computer access - a lot of our officials have web sites you can send messages to.

Well, dear Bass, I agry about the marriage. INS wants joint accounts and taxes. But in my marriage, for example, I was the one with no property or much money, so my hubby was very scared to have a joint checking account or anything of that sort. I wonder sometimes why he even got married, to have a free made at home? He filed the taxes together only because it would bring him bigger tax return and never had me and my son on his health insurance. It took an effort to prove him that I'm not going to run with his money. But he didn't hesitate to put MY savings on HIS retirement account. INS Lady was very unhappy about us not having joint checking and it gave us some trouble. So what poore allien to do if no way USC spouse wants to have anything or very little together?

I just wanted to point out that illegal immigrants are those who enter the country with no inspection.
Those who overstay are called out of status.
And most people don't have both names on everything. We don't but we had bills to the same address.
To guest: One of the basis of marriage is suppose to be trust.

Is this statement for me or my USC husband?

My comment for the illegal and out of status was actually for another thread.
A lot of married couples nowadays though have everything seperate. Seperate bank accounts. It is a good idea to have a joint bank account, that's a big proof to them. The phone bill is in my name and the cable in my husbands but it's the same address and we have a lease. I started flipping out when the lady at the INS office said bills in both our names. I told her we didn't have any in both our names and she looked at me and said "honey, no one does." But for the INS, try to put them in both names, if just for the interview purpose. It's stupid but hey!

My point is: We hear too much about aliens using USC. How about all those aliens being used by USC's? I'm not talking about only women, but they are mostly being "chowed up and spitted out" by american men. Why I don't go home? I've sold everything I had back there to be able to come here and have love and family. I believed to promises he was making. I trusted him all right. Now I'm being put in front of INS offisers with practically nothing to show for the marriage. That immigration law is helping american men enslave naive women. Sorry, if I sound upset and bitter. It's because I'm.

Hey Bass... I find it interesting how you expect people to think before they reply to your post on U.S immigration when you've already answered your own question. US IMMIGRATION IS ALREADY A MESS, so why bother rehashing replies that you should already expect? If you want to find answers, go to your local libraries, university libraries and/or legitimate sources to get your questions answered.

I agree, we can't fix immigration. We only have opinions based on experience or research. Any real and mostly accurate advise has to be gained through legal research or through a lawyer who does immigration research and representation for a living.
We don't know why the INS acts the way they act, so you are basically preaching to the choir.
I know that all countries worth immigrating to, have similar policies. I would not call them ignorant. Who wants a country with no laws.
Iran makes you an instant citizen if you marry an Iranian, but who wants to live there? They don't have problems with marriage fraud. Wonder why.
M is right, only a state representative can persue a change to the law. They are the ones to contact with what we think are unfair laws.

Why don't immigrants realize that they will always be second class to the "real-Americans"? It doesn't matter if you are here legally or even naturalized.

I knew this was going to be like this some would agree and some of course will have something to say about how i do express my feelings. which is fine.. Anyways what i wanted to say to you guys is for mr anti-imigrant..and whoever is against immigrants..let me give you an example :About 3 weeks ago a guy was involve in a very bad accident(federal way Wa state) and that guy use to hate mexicans because he always said people from other countries including mexicans are here to take over this country and other nonsense.okay when the accident happend he was so hurt that he couldnt move for fact he was stuck in the car and guess who was first on the scene (some mexicans and 2 africans , well immigrants) and they got him out and called the cops for him....now this guy lost so much blood that he passed out but he did see them before that happend ..Now this guy(american citizen) how should he feel now towards immigrants? Can he hate them again ? or be thankfull they were there to save his punk ass? Now how will he look at other immigrants from now on? ..Answer that .
