1. Declare a moratorium on all home evictions. Not one more family should be thrown out of their home. The banks must adjust their monthly mortgage payments to be in line with what people's homes are now truly worth -- and what they can afford. Also, it must be stated by law: If you lose your job, you cannot be tossed out of your home.
Moore is someone to be taken seriously? A shock movie maker with droves of uneducated imbeciles falling for the fallacy of his limitless bounty of BS. Lets examine the first recommendation through an example.
A person buys a house for 250k back in 2005. What happened during that transaction?
This person got a loan secured by the home for 250k. That money was given to the prior mortgage company, the prior owner, and the other people involved in the sale. It can't be taken back. So, the bank paid for the house already. The new guy now owes the bank the 250k. The payments may be around 2000 a month. Now comes 2008 and all hell breaks lose. The house is worth 125k and Johnny lost his job.
Moore thinks the mortgage should be adjusted to reflect the unemployment check. Problem is, what about the money the bank put out? Where did that come from? It came from the depositors at the bank. It didn't really come from the Fed. That is borrowed against the amount on deposit. In the end. It's what the bank has in it's vaults that really count. Your money. So Moor thinks it better to write down the deposits to reflect the new value. That would be the only way to make it balance. Mind having half your checking account wiped out to pay for Johnny's mistake? I didn't think so.
Since the given premise eludes to an adjustable value carried over to the loan, what if it goes the other way? What if Johnny here bought the house for 125k back in 2000 and by 2005 it bounced up to 250k. Should the bank be able to come in and say we're doubling your mortgage payment since the house is worth twice as much? Hm, maybe if the depositors got that dumped in their accounts people might vote for it.
This is nonsense at best. More accurately the diet of fools who buy into this sort of garbage. I wonder how much money Moor made on his movies? How much of that did he share? Lots of people foreclosed on in his area I'm sure.

Ok, I saw this one after the fact and couldn't pass it up.
3. Do not invest in the stock market. If you have any extra cash, put it away in a savings account or, if you can, pay down on your mortgage so you can own your home as soon as possible. You can also buy very safe government savings bonds or T-bills. Or just buy your mother some flowers.
This is even more idiotic than the first. Looking at it from just one perspective, and there are several, his recommendation is the path to poverty. T-bills or savings bonds? Please, they barely keep up with inflation. Plus, how is the government supposed to function without any short term capital gains tax revenue? Where do you think that comes from? Savings bonds? No, it comes from what you referred to me as, stock market swindlers. We're not, but that is beside the point. The truth is, now is the time. The market is still way down. History has proven this time and again. After every recession the market comes back to a point better than it was prior. Equally prevalent, during each recession there are those that say, 'but this time is different'. Same krap different decade. The only difference is we have a much bigger bounce back coming. Lots to be made. Which is what the prudent person should be doing, learning how this really works and putting it to good use. Not listening to some fat clown who is laughing all the way to the bank with your ticket revenue.

Well well. Moore got you to do exactly what he wanted you to do - talk about him and his movie. I love Moore - he gets people talking and thinking. Doesn't matter if people agree with him or not-he also makes money. He obviously bought his American Dream. Bravo!

Very true. Making money is the American way eh davdah? He produces a product that people like and will buy. At least his money was made in an honest way unlike Bernie Maddof, Bernard Ebbers or Ken Lay.
In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and has been widely regarded as a bad move - Douglas Adams

Of course it is. That is what makes this even more amusing. This guy pulled off one the greatest slight of hand maneuvers I've seen in a long time. Right up there with Bernie. Convinced as many people as he did to part with their money to see how other people were tricked into parting with their money. The irony is hilarious.

I don't agree? To a large extent I do. Except for the part where he humiliated some of the people who were victims of their own negligence. A bit much I think. I'm not a movie maker so I can't speak to how necessary the amount of drama must be to gain an audience .You didn't see the movie? If you haven't, watch it and forget the fact who made it or what the 'assumed' message must be. The truth will come out then. You might be shocked. It ain't what you think.
