Thompson Blames Immigrants For Mortgage Crisis
LOS ANGELES, CA (CBS4) ― Republican presidential candidate Fred Thompson has placed part of the blame for the current mortgage crisis on immigrants.

"A lot of them couldn't communicate with the people they were getting the mortgage from," Thompson told an Iowa audience during his "Clear Conservative Choice bus tour" according to a report in the Los Angeles Times.

Some of those in the audience also expressed their frustration that even phone message options are recorded in Spanish.

"Everything is in Spanish," said Janice Easley, "It's sickening."

"You are so, so right," Thompson said.

Thompson's anti-immigrant rhetoric came as the former Tennessee senator tried to breathe some life into his lackluster campaign.

Thompson who joined the race in September and has watched as his campaign has slowly fizzled over the last few months. This month's Yahoo/Associated Press poll finds he's retained just over half of those who supported him in November.

The following quotes were voiced on November 16, 2007 in the MEXICAN Congress.
TRANSLATED FROM:
http://www.porvenirlatino-usa.com/portada_parlamento2.htm

The Congress President, Congresswoman Ruth Zavaleta Salgado:

"The initiative, proposed by the Plural Commission of Legislators, conformed jointly by the Commission of Population, Borders and Migratory Matters of the Chamber of Representatives, as well as by the Commission of Northern Border Matters of the Senate of the Republic, event that honors our commitment with the Mexican migrants, which for economic reasons they have had to abandon this country to find solution to their needs. "

"It is not possible that upon leaving this naton, you leave behind legitimate civic rights. It is neither admissible that upon arriving to American territory, they be denied the most elementary labor rights, as if by touching the border, their legal protection rights had been suspended, including liberty and the dignity of people in the two bordering countries."

"That absence of recognition, here and there, today has to be corrected. Discrimination, abuse, exploitation and another series of injustices have been the constant stories of life that have been heard by friends and compatriots in long chats, in various moments, in different places. In many occasions I have felt anguish, in others rage, but above all, I have felt the need to help some way so that those injustices be finished."

"The national pride to be a Mexican, which represents our traditions, history, culture, does not finish at the border, does not change just because we find ourselves in another country. To the contrary, it seems to me that it deepens, it enlarges, the sensation of happiness grows when we listen our to National Anthem, our songs, our language. It is so big, that a piece of paper cannot take that away."

"By that reason is that our legislators modified the law to offer greater rights to the Mexicans that live outside country. We understand that in many occasions the decision to move outside the country to seek new horizons constitutes a very painful decision. Family, friends, and their own land is left behind."

It treats, often, of a personal event that causes nostalgia and abandonment. Therefore well, the deepest assignment of this event is to meet to the ones that they suffer the isolation, to give sense to the dispersed energies, to reconstruct the sense of ownership, to re-establish the proximity among us, Mexican all, independently from where we be.

"Being Mexican or to be Mexican is part of us and what the great majority of our countrymen have done with their children born outside this country has been to instill them the love for their country, for Mexico, for their customs, be that of Yucatan or of Sonora, of Oaxaca or of Guerrero, of where where they are from, they will always have their traditions attached to their daily life."

"I am convinced that the greatness of Mexico, aside from their culture and history, is fundamentally their people, and the commitment from us, as legislators, is to defend our compatriots at any place where they are located."

"Guarding the respect of human and civil rights of our migrant countrymen in the place where they be found is an inescapable obligation. Before you, we assume the commitment to find the norms and laws that protect against abuses and injustices, and if we do this together, we will have, without a doubt, better results and propositions that contribute to the solution of our large problems."

"The representatives before you, offer a commitment of national unity in favor of our resident Mexican families in the American Union, to support institutional negotiations among the authorities of that country, and to find favorable solutions to the problem of legal status of the Mexican workers that are found in that territory."

"We reject categorically the racist arguments that consider the migrant worker as a terrorist and that for the sake of national security they have attacked those who by being undocumented or immigrants are found in conditions of disadvantage and defenselessness."

Congressman José Edmundo Ramírez Martínez:

"I trust that this First Parliament will be the ice-breaker to give start to new actions that promotes the legislative and executive powers, to encourage to insist, to prompt and to summarize a necessary migratory agreement that has the recognition of both countries on the prevailing need to recognize, and not small-change, the rights that legitimately correspond to us; right that are inherent in the human nature and that they are over any political consideration, above any nation and above any interest."

Congressman José Jacques y Medina:

"We are here with that intention to discuss the ways in which we are going to organize to defend our acquired rights. The ones that we know that we have, those of us that have lived over there (U.S.) for so many years and that so working hours have remained in the businesses, in the industries, in the services, in the agricultural fields. All those rights acquired, all that antiquity, we are not going to renounce. We are going to fight for those rights because they are a part of the patrimony of this nation, our nation, of Mexico."

Elvira Arellano:

"For years we have complained that the migrants in the United States have been abandoned by our government. When the United States treats us as criminals and terrorist our government remains quiet. When they deport a mother, a boy or a worker, our government remains quiet."

"We want that a migratory agreement be a priority in the agenda of Mexico Unido and, very especially, that it be a matter of greater importance in the agenda of our Mexican government."

Senator Luis Alberto Villarreal García:

"I have a dream that one day this nation will raise itself and will live the true meaning of its creed. We maintain, this truths as evindent that all men are created equal, so said Martin Luther King."

"Throughout the American territory laws and measures have been approved that have as main objective the abuse, the harassment, the pursuit of our people to bring them the most difficult life."

"This logic of the all or nothing. This logic of the absurd war against all and against all. This logic of the useless and ignominious walls. This logic of the raids, of the arbitrary detentions, of the punishments to those who employ our compatriots or rent them a place to live. This logic of those who punish those whom offer them any type of assistance to our compatriots. This colorblind logic that avoids the xenophobics to see that the United States of North America is composed by a polycromatic society, they deserve our most firm and energetic rejection."

"What happend with the country of civil freedom and of respect for human rights? Perhaps they have forgot that they are part of the International Pact of civil and Political law, which explicitly prohíbits detentions and arbitrary arrests and ot establishes that every deprivation of liberty of a person has to be strictly attached to the law, and that it also prohíbits that nobody can be an object of an arbitrary interferences to their privacy, their family, their residence, without due process? "

"They also have forgoten that they signed the Convention of the United Nations regarding the rights of a child, the one that establishes that an infant should not be separated of its parents, except with their expressed consent, unless the separation be in the interest of the child?"

"How far are they to comply with their 23rd constitutional amendment that expresses that slavery and forced servitude are prohibited in the United States of North America, and with these measures of pursuit, and of harassment, they are legalizing slavery against the memory of those who fought in the past and won the respect of their nation."

If Mexico spent half as much time and effort on MEXICAN government as they do trying to dictate to the US, they might have a decent country. But they are working for the 20+ billion sent annually home to Mexico from the illegals working in the US.

Governments will always misuse the machinery of the law as far as the state of public opinion permits.

U.S. CITIZEN COMMENTS AND EMERGING POWER AGAINST IMMIGRATION

By Frosty Wooldridge
December 27, 2007
NewsWithViews.com

Bush and Congress cannot and will not prevail against the will of the American people as to unending illegal immigration in 2008.

“Please read, grade and see who stands for our country and who wants to finish destroying what is left of America. Let us keep track of what they say and then we decide who we will vote into the highest office. We cannot make another mistake again like we did with President Bush.” Carmen and Joe dontspeakforme.org

“The Congress finally admits to energy concerns of the future. Yea! But controlling immigration would seem the most logical, but no, nothing about that. Let’s save a couple of watts and bring in 20 or 30 million more people into our country. Yeah, that’ll do a lot of good. Like my dad used to say ‘It’s like ‘shoveling shi* against the tide.’” Howard of Phoenix, AZ

“The major problem with our country is the gross corruption and compromise of our entire political system of government. It extends to the highest levels. The illegal immigrants that come here have also been the victims of corruption both their government and ours along with corporate America. Most of the flood of illegals was a result of the passage of NAFTA, which as you must know was a lose-lose situation for the average Latino and American. We are in big trouble. Most Americans don't have the ability to be brutally honest with themselves and what is really going on in this country.” Barbara

“The Industrial Revolution was so productive that, given the rudimentary nature of governmental and financial institutions, and of the technology of communication and control, capital was unable to deprive labor of a significant share of the national income. Fast forward to '1984' and Big Brother's e-capability for universal surveillance, instantaneous communication, and control of the smallest elements of one’s daily life.

“As the supply of labor rises, real wages fall. Thus, illegal aliens don't have to work for lower wages for them to depress wages for all workers. Just their presence here increases the supply of labor, which necessarily lowers the market-clearing wage. Likewise, their presence also increases demand for a wide variety of consumer goods & services, thereby bidding up prices.

“As the American Middle Class continues to be dispossessed economically and disenfranchised politically, they approach the Malthusian state where they compete in 'their own' country for a third world existence with illegals and H-visa aliens. Insult added to injury: will the tins of 'Soylent Green' have bilingual labels?” John Tomaski

“I fear America is finished. And when the NAU becomes a total reality, there's no going back. America as we knew it no longer exists. Instead, we live in a world where we have to fear for our lives when going shopping or going to church, or sending our children to school. We live in a world where we are not secure, even in our own homes.

”I was in a hospital three years ago where there was only one American nurse on my floor for all shifts. Most of the time I couldn't understand what they were saying to me, and one of them tried to give me the wrong medication. I wouldn't take it, and she reported me to the head nurse, who called my doctor at home and got herself a good tongue-lashing, because it WAS the wrong medication.

”Now, if you can't read English, you can hardly speak English, and you can't make yourself understood to English-speakers, why the devil are you working in a situation where you hold their very lives in your hands?” Diane, American grandmother

“Once again massive riots have taken place in a Paris suburb which is populated with North African and Arab immigrants. Over the past week, over 100 police officers have been injured as the thugs hurled rocks and Molotov cocktails and fired shotguns at them. The violence is a direct result of the large influx of Third World immigrants who have no intention of assimilating.” Dave Gibson

“The only way to save our country is to start following our Constitution the way it was written. The 2008 election is "do or die" in my opinion. Who we have in Congress and as President will determine our fate. I support Ron Paul for President. The American public needs to wake up and take action, especially immigration.” Babs, Belfield, North Dakota

“One third of immigrants are on some form of welfare, costing states nearly $20 billion a year--adding that efforts to legalize the spiraling number of illegal aliens will only increase the amount of uneducated, uninsured legal immigrants burdening America’s welfare rolls. Since 2000, more than 10 million immigrants have entered the U.S., more than half of them illegally. With no change in U.S. immigration policy, another 15 million immigrants will likely arrive in the next 10 years.

“The last seven years have been the highest period of immigration in American history,” says Dr. Steven A. Camarota of www.cis.org. “The roughly 1.5 million immigrants arriving each year have a very significant effect on American life.”

The question grows: how long before the United States suffers the same fate as France? Short answer: not too much longer if the current immigration numbers continue.

If U.S. citizens fail to stop all forms of immigration, this country doesn’t stand a chance against its immigrants as they outnumber, overwhelm and thoroughly change our country into something like those immigrants fled.

Immigration in any form creates a lose-lose dilemma for all Americans. The November 2008 election of senators and House members, and the next president will sustain or destroy the United States of America. If the democrats win the White House, our borders become a free-for-all. If any of the Republicans win it other than Ron Paul or Duncan Hunter—this nation won’t survive. Think I’m kidding? Check numbersusa.com for a candidate by candidate reality check on their stances on immigration.

If Americans had not risen up to our corrupt government after those racist marches,(thanks LaRaza, aka the "Race") we'd be on our way to rocking a very similar boat. As it is the damage to America has been substantial. If we don't get the right President in office in '08 America will be nothing more than a memory.

If they ever get around to getting rid of Villagross-a-s-s and Ahhnold in Mexifornia, it's going to have to be bombed, fumigated and rebuilt in order to return to being part of American civilization.

The same applies to Texas, Illinois and Florida. Tancredo didn't lie when he said it has been transformed into a 3rd world country. yes

Well if Hillary/ gets in. It is likely this nation will become a socialistic environment. There is a history of big spending on so called "good things for the poor". Only problem is that they dont seem to know what is "good" 4them. Remember that it was I believe under Billy's administration that the last amnesty got passed. The "cant we just all get along and there is enough for everybody" mentality will eventually destroy the structure.

My point in reference to France invasion is that what comes around will go around. It was ok for france to invade those countries with their forced "customs and way of living" but they are now feeling what it is like when the same is being done to them.. (just in a different sort of way)

Right now.. America has been guilty of same thing. Invasion of Iraq will eventually have to bring many iraquis here in the end. you will see. Remember vietnam war and the "boat people" and many other instances like this where "sticking nose in" have resulted in same way in cases of war and relief. it will be same thing but or will it be????. It will be interesting as the current administratin is anti arab and anti muslim mentality and has fed america enough propaganda to feel the same way. Time will tell.
