OMG 4never. I don't know how to comment on that.
Ok, so who according to you should be doing the assigning? George Bush?

LMAO.

Anyway. My solution to that is vote Democrat in the up and coming elections. They've got all the solutions you need.

Kay.

LMAO??. This is not funny!!
That is the last thing a person wants to do is leave it to the democrats. a lot of spending will go on and in the end.... nothing gets reolved . just a lot of non profits lined their pockets with grant money and director salaries.

No It will have to be done at the social services level and homeless shelter and some street work and associated agencies will have to be involved. It is important to isolate and act on those on the verge or have just become homeless. These will be easier to get back into the mainstream. the longer one is out there homeless, the harder the job or task is to make a solution. (now health issues, no resources etc)

I get the impression that you are not interesed in trying to help come up with a solution. there are too many of you out there.. that want to ignore the problem or just settle to donate food, money to a shelter.

Shelters do not change peoples circumstances. It has been one of the wrong solutions in regards to homelessness.

Lol, your last sentence CONTRADICTS your previous ones.

Good job defending my position by yourself. Nothing needs to be added on my side. Your turn.

There is something wrong with your mentality iperson.. mental block or something.. I wish I knew.
I am sorry for even bothering to have a discussion with you about such an important topic in america.. My last sentence does not contradict. it supports my assesment .

So just continue in your democratic way by building more shelters and patting your selves on the back for "doing good 4the homeless". You can feel better and sleep at night. Roll Eyes

I just so wish a real candidate would have emerged.

Now who is the biggest supporter of capitalism? You 4now, davdah, proudusc, hudson. Republicans.

Democratic ideas on how to shape the world are entirely different, and they do not create homelessness.

But I would really like to hear YOUR solution to this problem as a Republican. Go ahead, explain it to me. I am VERY interested to hear YOUR solutions. I am all ears.

Iperson, you do realize that homeless exists everywhere, even in Europe and in Communist countries. This paper should enlighten you on the homeless situation in Europe. Or how about this piece that purports the myths and realities of homeless in Communist countries.

Democrats, as well as Republicans, do believe in the general notion of capitalism. If you think that the Democratic party is against capitalism, then you are extremely delusional or you do not know what you are talking about. Since 1920's, we have increased regulations to almost every aspect of our lives . Some regulations have been good, some burdensome, some ineffective, and some too extreme.

As for the housing crisis, your article does not even come close to linking, directly, Spitzer and the bail out of Bear Sterns and Co. Sub=prime lending has been in existence long before Bush came into office. In fact, the US government was in the sub prime business with Fannie mae and Gennie mae bonds to help out first time home buyers. VA has special loan programs for its vets. And there are other programs that states offer. But these were few and restrictive. If you filed bankruptcy in the last seven years, chances are you had a sup prime loan would have been your mortgage for the first two years or so.

The situation is one which many groups are at fault, not just the mortgage industry as a whole. Yes, I know 4now will disagree with this assertion. But that is a different discussion for another time.

Nope, I don't believe capitalism is bad.
I think capitalism is not everything, money is not everything.
You think capitalism is a good in itself Hudson? Capitalism as socialism are two polarities and both can be very destructive to society, just as it is happening right now in America. People are out in the streets in droves and more are coming.
So don't complain. This is the risk you've taken when you swore onto the Republican system of beliefs. You practically sold your soul to the dollar.
Now what you've got? Dollar is almost worth nothing, and so is your soul.

The homeless problem is a result of capitalism? Isn't it the responsibility of the person applying for the loan to know what they can afford? A lender will tell you to be realistic. Don't buy the house you want. Buy the house you can afford. Do people listen? Obviously not. It's people's own fault for thinking too big. Besides, the banks don't want real estate. They want loan payments. It doesn't profit them at all to go through the foreclosure process. Here is some more bad news. Its only going to get worse. When the rates can't be backed down any more the defaults will soar. It won't matter who is in the white house. Look for it late next year. I for one don't care. I assume responsibility for my own place in this world. Neither party is going to help me pay my bills. LOL.

The bank bail out isn't much different than the S&L debacle back in the 80's. I almost choked on my soda when I read your inference to the governors arrest and the bank loans. I think you read too many spy novels. This must be a put on.

Just My Thinking On This. Neither Side Will Help Resolve The Situation. Those At The Top In our System, deep politics, Etc. have Forgotten Or just Don't Understand The MAJORITY of the People. Not Until a Situation affects them Directly Could they Understand. They make judgments, Decisions and Solutions Based On What They read, Hear On The News, What They Hear From Others LIKE THEM. Not What Hits Close To Home. With most of the politicians etc. they have never experienced that Close to home way of thinking that comes from everyone else!. the majority of this country! THE PEOPLE! I feel this election is different, more complex, because people are talking more now. Places like ILW. Blogs. internet. at the dinner table. Etc. The real people are talking now. People Are not happy! It Shows!

My Opinion.

My opinion on the collapse of the housing market, Bank situation.

im no humanitarian, however we are all human.

Only from what i personally have seen, "Not Being stuck in an office all day or Daily communications only with those Same. Many just don't have the opportunity to see.

The banks Provided specialized loans To many that normally wouldn't be able to afford the norm of conventional. Not to help those seeking the dream! But to fatten the overall number of mortgages they have. Not helping those seeking the American dream! offering the ability to purchase, and punishing by tacking on higher rates, That They knew people wouldn't be able to afford! Example: 3 years at 6% then it goes to 9%. Why not 3 years at 6% then it goes to 7%. that is still huge $$$$ for the banks! just not huge enough! GREED! Then an influx over the past 5 years of illegal immigrants not following the rules here. affecting jobs, citizens Pay, etc. Domino affect! layoffs, cut in pay, out sourcing jobs, no pay raises, hiring illegals for LESS. just the opposite! no growth for the country, no security.

BANKS = GREED!
Those that Make 300,000 a month are affected also, but it affects them differently. 6 vacations a year are reduced to 5. savings to maintain their current way of life reduced. Have to wait till next year to buy that 500,000 clipper. guess we will just have to suffer and continuing to use the 300,000 one we already have. DARN!!!

Those donations to help one succeed over the other is not to put the best choice in office for the PEOPLE! its to ensure their own security and lifestyle by contributing to the one they feel will do that.

The politicians are not robots. Most of them do live in the real world. I think most of them try to do a good job. Even the Republicans! I can see iperson turning red with that one. Part of the problem is people's expectations are too high. Until one of them can walk on water I'll bet on myself first.

People are talking more? It appears that way only because we have more access to each other's conversations. We still don't know much about any of them. They give the same vague speeches. Promises, promises. Ones we know they will never keep. Yes, I'm being sarcastic but its reality. Does anyone accept their speeches as being the gospel. I hope not. Next rally I go to I'm bringing Margaritas. To go with the large grains of salt. Anyone game?

I have to say something about the banks. Its a business and they are in the business of lending money. Everyone can shop around for a better deal. The problem is people get fixated on the big house they can't afford. It works both ways. For every crooked banker their is an idiot borrower looking for a banker who will say yes. I would say there are more borrowers who lie about income than there are shady bankers. I bet you know a lot of people who are living way beyond their means. I know I do.

You're right sis, there were many people who bought houses that were well beyond their means. They wanted the American Dream so bad, at least for a while to live in a 6000ft house with a huge pool.
The problem with many people in this country, same with big banks and corporations- pride and greed, two main sins, aren't they?
BUT, those are not just one type of the homeless. What about all those that were laid of work in Detroit over the past few years?
I drive by and every third house has a SALE sign next to them. It's been like that for a couple good years now, and those signs are still there. This time foreclosed because people couldn't make payments. Not because they took a bad loan, but because they don't have a job to make payments.
And that's most people who get foreclosued now sis.

How was your soda? Wink

Sis
In all fairness to the borrower, are you not looking at the situation where the borrower could afford the home, health, loss of job etc.) put them in a position that made it no longer affordable? these are unforseen occurances. I am not talking about new loans. In the cases that iperson points out in the detroit area where auto assembly was tops at one time and now it is almost a depressed area.

the jobs are gone there. the big money jobs are gone. Yes there are service industry jobs there. $7 hour or less. Who can live on that? there is also the serious depressions that set in on the breadwinners of the family. Much of this has not even been addressed. Detroit is not the only city. Other auto assembly plants and Steel Mill cities alike are suffering the same fate.

These people need help.
