Thanks for those links Sprint.

This is the point. USA has a tendencey to think that they are the greatest country in the world therefore they never dare to look at how some other countries handle things (god forbid). If it took immigrants to make this country great, then it wouldnt hurt to look at or borrow a few things either to make it even greater.

If possible, get a third party negotiator to not let your house continue towards sheriff sale. See if those payments can go on the back end, and pulll yourself out of this just to delay and buy some time. You will find that a foreclosure on your credit record is going to hinder you big time in this country. Is it possible for you to take in some boarders to help with the rent.? rent out couple of rooms to some girls in this interim.

Did you consult a lawyer to try to force spousal support out of the husband using the 864?

Yes you need help.. and 744,000 average people like yourself. America has to fix this problem first before they try to tackle the illegal 's plight in america or the endless money being spent on a war that never was. write your congressman with suggestions and ask them to act on the homelessness situation.

President Lyndon B. Johnson:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Proposal for A Nationwide War On The Sources of Poverty'

Lyndon B. Johnson's Special Message to Congress, March 16, 1964

[]

Because it is right, because it is wise, and because, for the first time in our history, it is possible to conquer poverty, I submit, for the consideration of the Congress and the country, the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964.

The Act does not merely expand old programs or improve what is already being done.

It charts a new course.

It strikes at the causes, not just the consequences of poverty.

It can be a milestone in our one-hundred eighty year search for a better life for our people.

This Act provides five basic opportunities.

It will give almost half a million underprivileged young Americans the opportunity to develop skills, continue education, and find useful work.

It will give every American community the opportunity to develop a comprehensive plan to fight its own poverty-and help them to carry out their plans.

It will give dedicated Americans the opportunity to enlist as volunteers in the war against poverty.

It will give many workers and farmers the opportunity to break through particular barriers which bar their escape from poverty.

It will give the entire nation the opportunity for a concerted attack on poverty through the establishment, tinder my direction, of the Office of Economic Opportunity, a national headquarters for the war against poverty.

This is how we propose to create these opportunities.

First we will give high priority to helping young Americans who lack skills, who have not completed their education or who cannot complete it because they arc too poor. . . .

I therefore recommend the creation of a job Corps, a Work-Training Program, and a Work Study Program.

A new national job Corps will build toward an enlistment of 100,000 young men. They will be drawn from those whose background, health and education make them least fit for useful work. . . .

Half of these young men will work, in the first year, on special conservation projects to give them education, useful work experience and to enrich the natural resources of the country.

Half of these young men will receive, in the first year, a blend of training, basic education and work experience in job Training Centers. . . .

A new national Work-Training Program operated by the Department of Labor will provide work and training for 200,000 American men and women between the ages of 16 and 21. This will be developed through state and local governments and non-profit agencies. . . .

A new national Work-Study Program operated by the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare will provide federal funds for part-time jobs for 140,000 young Americans who do not go to college because they cannot afford it.

There is no more senseless waste than the waste of the brainpower and skill of those who are kept from college by economic circumstance. Under this program they will, in a great American tradition, be able to work their way through school. . . .

Second, through a new Community Action program we intend to strike at poverty at its source - in the streets of our cities and on the farms of our countryside among the very young and the impoverished old.

This program asks men and women throughout the country to prepare long-range plans for the attack on poverty in their own local communities. . . .

Third, I ask for the authority to recruit and train skilled volunteers for the war against poverty.

Thousands of Americans have volunteered to serve the needs of other lands.

Thousands more want the chance to serve the needs of their own land.

They should have that chance.

Among older people who have retired, as well as among the young, among women as \vell as men, there are many Americans who are ready to enlist in our war against poverty.

They have skills and dedication. They are badly needed. . . .

Fourth, we intend to create new opportunities for certain hard-hit groups to break out of the pattern of poverty.

Through a new program of loans and guarantees we can provide incentives to those who will employ the unemployed.

Through programs of work and retraining for unemployed fathers and mothers we can help them support their families in dignity while preparing themselves for new work.

Through funds to purchase needed land, organize cooperatives, and create new and adequate family farms we can help those whose life on the land has been a struggle without hope.

Fifth, I do not intend that the war against poverty become a series of uncoordinated and unrelated efforts - that it perish for lack of leadership and direction.

Therefore this bill creates, in the Executive Office of the President, a new Office of Economic Opportunity. Its Director will be my personal Chief of Staff for the War against poverty. I intend to appoint Sargent Shriver to this post. . . .

What you are being asked to consider is not a simple or an easy program. But poverty is not a simple or an easy enemy.

It cannot be driven from the land by a single attack on a single front. Were this so we would have conquered poverty long ago.

Nor can it be conquered by government alone. . . .

Today, for the first time in our history, we have the power to strike away the barriers to full participation in our society. Having the power, we have the duty .. . . .

We are fully aware that this program will not eliminate all the poverty in America in a few months or a few years. Poverty is deeply rooted and its causes are many.

But this program will show the way to new opportunities for millions of our fellow citizens.

It will provide a lever with which we can begin to open the door to our prosperity for those who have been kept outside.

It will also give us the chance to test our weapons, to try our energy and ideas and imagination for the many battles yet to come. As conditions change, and as experience illuminates our difficulties, we will be prepared to modify our strategy.

And this program is much more than a beginning.

Rather it is a commitment. It is a total commitment by this President, and this Congress, and this nation, to pursue victory over the most ancient of mankind's enemies.

What happened? How did we get back to where we started?

Yes I agree with you 4now, I think learning what other countries do to help people get on their feet and try to avoid homeless etc will benefit this country. Other countries too, and some are, slowly but getting there.
All countries could benefit learning from each other.

I do have a lawyer thankfully, and that was only due to some wonderful woman who I came in contact with but still to this day never met, lent me the money for the retainer. Without one I would have been on the streets already with nothing. Legal aid had a 6 month waiting list, and they said my case was too complicated for them to take on anyway.

After several months I eventually did get awarded spousal support, based on really that I had no access to the marital funds or anything (his control) and could not obtain benefits.
It wasn't much but it was something and he was also ordered to pay the mortgage, utilities until the assets and so on were sorted out. He had control of everything so it was hard for judge to make me deal with it, so until they work out whether what he pays is part of spousal support or in lieu of assets this is what he ordered as a temporary order.

He did pay for a few months, but then stopped. Yes he is in contempt, but it has taken many months to get that hearing. Finally April 1st, if all goes well.
In the meantime while waiting for a hearing, house has gone into foreclosure, no spousal support, utilities were disconnected, ruined the little credit I had on other assets that I did have my name on (he only paid what he wants to keep), and now I have been served regarding the house because my name is on the Homestead? but not on the mortgage and have to deal with that separate to the divorce.
One by one everything is being destroyed, no one is stopping him, and by the time it is heard in court guess what? It will be too late.

Mortgage attorneys do not care whether there is a divorce pending, they said the divorce court have no authority over the foreclosure.

I know this happens to a lot of people during a divorce, but what hinders me strangely enough is that affidavit of support. It is there to protect an immigrant from obtaining benefits and housing, but when you have the sponsor either unable to or purposely making sure the immigrant has nothing to make it on their own, where does it leave the likes of me or anyone in same situ?

Government couldn't and can't help me, so I have to turn to charities or church. Like millions of other people in this country, without the likes of these organizations, this country would be more like a 3rd world country with starving, homeless and very sick people.

I for one sure do appreciate what charities and churches do for this country and its people, no matter whether you are a USC, immigrant or not.
And not to forget all those wonderful people who volunteer to help these organizations run as they do.
I guess if you look at it this way...we have to look after each other, rather than the Government or whoever look after us.

4now, why are you so mean spirited? Oh, wait, you're a Republican.

I haven't offered to talk to Sprint, I have offered a contact with me in case she is in trouble. If she contacted me, I could help then, and yes, take her to my home if she didn't have anyplace to go. But we wouldn't talk about this on this forum, only via PM here and then email.

Why do I not count the amount of times I have to explain the simple things to republican dummies here?

Got it 4 NEVER??? Or should I repeat AGAIN?

the "personal" is political

Here. lived On The street, In cars, tents, etc. i want To appologize For My initial thinking Of you and speed girl. Reading some of Your Stuff, You appeared to me as players. Now i see That You Both have Your own severe Issues To deal with. I Just Added You Both To My List Of Those I Pray For. that my story thread i started, i havent seen everyone talk there yet. like me it was easier to joke around, etc. for 2 years without talking about what happened. to relieve the sadness. everyone has different story, but the end result is the same!

before i met my wife and the bad situation Etc. I Met many. Dont Get me wrong sprint dear, I Not know where You are from. My Goal /need was just To find answerers Why? Filipinos, only Because Was Mylife Experience. Could Very easy Had been Vietnamese, chinese, korean, Etc. I Just Happened To experience Filippinos. upper Class And lower Classes. Even Though Their lives Awful, they still wanted To portray How Great And successful They were. ?????

I Met Someone Beautiful Girl, Smart, knowledgable, Not Someone i Would Have Ever imagined To Have been daughter Of Embassador, nor Someone i Would have expected To play 4 guys At once Etc. In The End i learned She Too was Just Fighting For Survival. only way she new How. Using Her outer Beauty to survive! Come And go as she Please Because Of her Connections. However, Most dis owned her And left Her To fend For herself! She became Nothing more Than A prostitute, But In A Hidden different kind of way! Not Having any Work Skills, Or proffession Oriented Direction In life. grew Up Always Having Things handed To Her. Wound up begging for money To Get back home! had The Protection Of her Diplomatic status card And Still more Or less Wound Up homeless! using The only Thing She Felt Could Maintain Her Survival, Her Appearance. the point! Can Happen to Anyone And Everyone Regardless of who they Are, where They Come From, Or how successful they were.

During our struggle For Survival we meet and Learn From Those That Normally we would never Have Come in Contact with. i can only speak for myself, But only after experiencing The ultimate Low Did I Come To Understand, And change my outlook on life. Not To Mention finding Things Within Myself That under Normal circumstances I Never Would Have been Able To see! Makes Us better!

Here's an article that appeared in The Washington Post today. It discusses one woman's story of how she 'qualified' for a loan on a house that she couldn't afford and subsequently lost it.
