Hi, I need help from anybody who has vast knowledge in immigration. I came here since 1987, married a USC, got 2 kids from him and we're still together for almost 15 years now. We processed my papers in '88 by ourselves without asking any help from anybody. We didn't know what we were doing at that time. I completed all requirements including fingerprints and physical. We left NE for VA because my husband was in the service so we abandoned my papers. But when we moved to CA we asked NE to forward my papers. I just remember that the officer from NE told us to fill out the waiver of inadmissability since I came here illegally.I sent a check to CA but they returned it back because the fee had changed. At that time we were moving to go to east coast but my husband was no longer in the service. I tried hiring a lawyer when we were there but we had health crisis at that time. Then finally I decided to hire a lawyer but he charged me $7,000.00 ; $4,000.00 deposit, $500.00 for my immigration fees because we are going to re-apply again. Is this really the rate now for immigration lawyers? I am a U.S. licensed R.N. but can't work because of this dilemma. Please, give some advise. Are the lawyers from Catholic Charities free?
Thank you so much!
