I've recently been keeping up with this whole debate about
passing the reform bill for undocumented illegal aliens to remain
in the United States. I myself am a born citizen who is married
to an illegal alien, and I must say that people like him who are
hard working, and wants the better things in life should
definitely be considered or granted the pathway for citizenship.
My husband and I both work, but he brings home more money than I
do, and I am the one who graduated from H.S. and have some
college under my belt. Trust me I am not complaining, I thinks
it's good that the man is the bread winner, but like I said it's
people like him and I'm sure many others who can and will make a
difference in this nation. I do however, understand what our
Senators and our President is trying to do, and they need to be
careful on how to approach the situation because of all of the
other undocumented aliens that are just taking up space and our
tax money in the jail systems. I feel that those who end up
behind bars first time around for drugs, criminal acts,
possession of weapons, or even involved in gangs & shooting
shouldn't even be considered a second chance, deport them. I hate
to sound unfair, but it's people like that who really put a
damper on the ones trying to make a good living, and as a tax
payer that really irritates me. I know a lot of illegal
aliens that live here, and when you sit with them, and listen to
their stories about the way people live in Mexico or other
countries it's really sad. I would probably do what I can to come
over too, especially when it's that close to a better life. I
really hope that this reform bill passes, not just for my husband
sake, but for many others who deserve it. Thank you for
taking the time to read this, and hopefully I can make some sort
of a change in the hearts of many, God loves you.

I think there should be a reform because most of the people here,
at least ones I know, are doing us a favor and getting jobs done
that we are too involved in our own lives to do. These peolpe are
not afraid to work Saturday and Sunday while we are resting and
spend time with our families. It is time for American's to wake
up and see that their are overall more bad Americans than
foreigner. They just always seem to be in the spotlight.

(d) Dear Weekly Editor:
Letter of Jessica Sanches (IW 5/14/07) says "Those who are not
related to an immigrant are the ones who favor raid and racism."
That statement is wrong-headed and self-serving. I too am
married to an alien. My wife comes from a country even poorer
than Mexico, where she was a middle-aged mother trying to raise
her son on the equivalent of $75 per month. Yet she never
considered breaking any country's laws but made the best of her
situation. I met her in her countrydecided to marry and paid
all the fees, filed the forms, had backgrounds checked (including
mine) and finally she and her son were able to come to America
legally. As I result, have less less sympathy than most, for
those who willfrully break several laws (illegal entry, using
counterfeit documents, working without authorization...to name a
few) Then, because there are many such lawbreakers they make
demands and false claims of racism. Anyone who makes such
demands shows themselves to be disrepectful of our nation and
unworthy of our compassion. The letter complains that her
problems are the result of our laws and not her husband's
lawbreaking.
