I have an appointment with my husband in 10 days with immigration for his green card and while putting documents together I realized that my citizenship certificate is missing. What should I do. We sent in copies when we initially file the papers. But wouldn't I need that for the interview? Advice any one??????????????
Sometimes a day of the interview causes us to panic. Try to go to all your papers again.
Do you have a US passport? sometimes US passport is ok, since you only have two days for the interview to apply for a replacement of your naturalization paper, you can explain the situation to them.
This depend on the immigration official who's interviewing you. He may or he may not approve but it won't cause you any Denial either. It might just delay the process or reschedule a second interview. But Some are nice thou.
And sometimes a lawyer is a big help in explaining the situation because of their credibility.
Make sure you have all the original copies of all the documents they are asking for. and make a copy of each.
The whole basis of your husband being able to adjust status is based on you being a USC.
So this is the most important part of equation. The proof that you are.
Suggestion.... check with the place that you had copies made. You may have left it in the copier and they may still have it. I cant tell you how many times I find greencards, passports left in the copy machine at places.
Your naturalization should be able to be checked in the system.
